Wrapping Up the Generous December Gift

Right about now, I bet you’re looking at The Nice List and wondering how on earth I am going to choose just one cause to receive the $60 donation, determined by participation, that I said I would make when introducing the Generous December Group Writing Project.

The decision has not been an easy one in the slightest, but there does have to be just one winner and it is…

To: EVERYONE

OK, I fooled you, but that’s was just so it wouldn’t spoil the surprise.

November was a record-breaking month here at Babylune. More people read more pages of my writing and it soothed my poor ego (writers get their self-esteem kicked around a lot). So, I wanted to give something back in appreciation. Early on, I decided to budget the November earnings from blogging and the spare change in my Pay Pal account to this project.

Still, $360 doesn’t go very far when split between 35 entries.

So, not everyone is getting the same amount and not everyone’s cause is getting it the same way.

I had to call in a secret Santa to help me out. Actually, more than one secret Santa. You’ll read more about them between tomorrow and Christmas Eve.

My money, like everyone else’s has to go along way at this time of year. So, I had to get creative and I had to compromise by sticking with the spirit of your entries and combining causes when I couldn’t give to every charity. If I had to choose between two charities that address the same concern, I might have made the choice based on what I researched about the two charities, or it might just have been a matter of one accepting PayPal donations while the other didn’t.

Some of you aren’t sharing with other participants. I have family and friends I need to honor with presents and your charities often seemed like exactly the right way to do it.

There’s one more thing. To my great surprise, some ethical arose. Please try to understand that my spiritual and religious beliefs run as deeply as anyone else’s, but my expression of those beliefs might be different from yours and I did have to ask for understanding and tolerance. And yet, even in areas where there seemed to be deep philosophical and spiritual disagreement, a fair solution came to me. Sure, it requires trust and hope and belief, but those are at heart of all of this entire project.

Everything will be revealed between December 21st and December 24th. I hope all of you are happy with your Christmas presents.

Thank you for making this project a success, thank you for telling me that you care about this planet and the people who live on it, thank your for telling me that goodness and generosity are flourishing here.

Love,

Kate
