Yehudis this is the other post I wrote on this subject... http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/silicone-baking-pans-safe-or-not/ There is nothing that would lead anyone to conclude that silicone baking pans are at all a danger to your health.

I found this post by searching google for muffin paper silicone reusable, which took me to this blog post, "http://www.treehuggingfamily.com/one-small-step-silicone-baking-cups/"

What a novel idea! However, I am going to wait on purchasing something like this, due to the engineer poster nme's questioning the safety of silicone rubber in bakeware. Has anyone researched this?

The safety of Silicone Rubber cookware has not in my mind been proven. I am an engineer that uses silicone rubber to make parts cast from silicone rubber compounds and the material's flexibility is in part do to the silicone oil present in the material's structure. The oily nature of the silicone rubber's surface testifies to the oils presence. It can be washed off only with very strong detergents, but continues to leach out to the surface over time with use. This is the same silicone oil that has been determined to be dangerous when used in silicone breast implants. I can't help but wonder and worry about the long term effects of trace amounts of silicone oil mixing with the foods one bakes or cooks in this bake ware.

I haven't used silicon to bake with yet.. I don't make cupcakes or muffins much but I was seriously eyeing off some silicon bundts recently - any ideas how they hold up?

Can I be part of your maybe hostile take over? I like take overs. Plus I can't think of a better person to do that with than you.
