A Cookbook Contest…No, Not Mine.

I don’t have diabetes but I am considered to be at risk for it.  All of my babies were gargantuan, although I blame that on Marc.  The biggest was #7 at 11 lbs 4 oz, and the smallest was #8 at 8 lbs 9 ozs.

I have symptoms of classic insulin resistance. All of them. Blah.

I try to eat low carb, I bet ya didn’t know that. I haven’t been great lately, but usually all of the yummy stuff I blog about I just taste enough to know whether it is worth passing on the recipe or not.  So I am a closet fan of Julie’s blog.

Julie is having a cookbook contest over at her blog, Battling Diabetes.  For all of you who love to gave at the recipes here and then try to figure out how to replicate them in a form you can have weep no more!  The cookbook she is giving away sounds absolutely heavenly.  The Big Book of Diabetic Desserts on Amazon.  Page through it.  Drool over the pictures. Be happy.

Go check out the contest and enter it.

Thanks, Marye! If you win,you really have to bake something for me. With goat milk.

  2. Marye says:

Sure. For you, anything. And I will send you some baking powder.

Hello Marye, I had progressed back to page 39 when I read your note on being close to diabetes. Not to be nosy but has the insulin resistance been controlled or are you a full diabetic now? I am diabetic because medications needed for anti-rejection..a new kidney. I use prandin pills or Novolog Insulin injections before anything goes past my lips. What a drag! Thank God for the VA and the lo-cost meds!! Hope you and Marc are ok.

  4. Marye says:

LOL Rocco, you muyst be a speed reader. I am insulin resistant, ie: I can;t lose weight, but also don;t gain it..just stuck at about 20-25 lbs too much. I do react to sugar if I have too much but at this point I am not diabetic.

The VA is awesome if you have patience, right?

  5. Rocco says:

Lucky you! Lay off the carbs and you may stave off that damn disease! BTW..there are some great recipes in these pages, keep up the good work, or should I say “Hobby”.

  6. Marye says:

Ha. Hobby? Not really. Passion. Addiction. Not hobby.
Stay away from carbs? Yeah. Sure. I do my best but tasting is part of the job.
Hey someone has to do it.
