Anne submitted this beautiful dish, Pink Lady French Toast.

Here is the winning recipe. And, congrats Anne, Nicely done! Congrats to everyone. I was glad this wasn’t a competition that I had to judge because I could not have chosen. Everyone did a fabulous job.
PINK LADY BAKED FRENCH TOAST
with Cinnamon Syrup
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
l Pink Lady apple, quartered and thinly sliced crosswise
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, optional
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
5 cups bread cubes (prefer day old, dense, firm bread like french bread)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in a 9 x 9 inch pan and place in the oven until melted. Stir in 1/4 cup sugar. Place apple slices on the butter sugar mixture, sprinkle with nutmeg and walnuts or pecans, if desired. Set aside.

Whisk together eggs, milk, 1 Tbsp sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread cubes allowingthe bread to soak up the egg mixture. Spoon bread cube egg mixture over the apples, gently patting into place. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool for 3 to 4 minutes. Run and knife around the edge, invert pan and cut into serving size squares.
Serve with Maple Syrup or Cinnamon Syrup (see recipe below).
Excellent with a dollop of plain yogurt on top.
Note:This does not have to be inverted. Cut into serving size pieces. Using a wide pancake spatula, individual pieces can be lifted out and inverted on plate.
Note: To serve 6-8 people, the recipe can be made 1 1/2 times and baked in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
Cinnamon Syrup
2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 Tbsp red cinnamon candies
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and gently boil for 30 minutes or until the syrup is reduced to 1 cup. Stir in cinnamon candies and continue to boil, stirring until candies dissolve.
