Bake Someone Happy…Baking in 1980

I got married in March of 1980. The amazing this is that we are still married because we used to have amazingly stupid arguements, like who ate the last of the ice cream. I think that our marrige survived largely because of a certain synergy between Marc and I- I cook, he eats. He has passed his eating genes on to our children so that arriving at the checkout at the local grocery store ends up in the following dialogue:
Checker:Wow, you must be having a lot of company
Me: Nope
Checker: Stocking up?
Me: Nope
Checker: Smoke pot much?
Me: Nope. Family.
Checker: That will be one billion, two hundred sixty thousand dollars, Mrs. Audet.
Anyway, in 1980 I got married without ever having cooked much. I learned to bake bread in my dad’s kitchen when my parents were briefly seperated. My mom did not allow kitchen messes. Marc threw up halfway through the first meal I cooked him.
Betty Crocker and I have come a long way since then.

I became a real cook because my DH lost his job and I started cooking everything from scratch and simple ingredients. And we have a marriage similar to yours, I think…
LOL! Having to be frugal does help, doesn’t it?
