I can’t believe it is July. I feel like I say that every month…They seem to go so fast.
Today is Chef Kyrie’s fifth birthday…Wait until you see what I picked up for her. It is adorable, and I am going to blog it later, maybe not today but later in the week.
I checked out the Daring Bakers Challenge for this month and all I can say is…WOW. The reveal is Wednesday the 30th of July so mark your calenders and be sure to check in. Yes it is that good!
It is interesting to look at the statistics and see what the top posts for each month were. I decided to do a top five list for June. Actually it is the top six list because since I posted the 50 Best Cookie Recipes that has been the top post every single month. The day I post something that knocks THAT out I will be amazed.
Anyway, other than that the five top posts (in order) are:
- How to Make Your Own Wedding Cake
- Old Fashioned Molasses Crinkles
- Double Chocolate Toffee Cookies
- Homemade HotDog or Hamburger Buns
- Pineapple Upside Down Cake
I could have guessed the wedding cake…
The poll for June was What is your favorite bread? I thought the winner was going to be French Baguette but Whole Wheat took the lead by one vote at the last minute. I actually have two recipes up for whole wheat bread:
and then I have a recipe for everyday whole wheat bread that I will be posting in the next few days. I will be putting a new poll up for July a little later. The poll for this month is the battle of the mixers. Bosch, Kitchenaide, or write in your own favorite.
You see, Kitchen aide bites when it comes to bread making. Maybe if you make the occasional loaf..but if you make whole wheat bread in six loaf batches a couple of times a week like I do your beloved KA is going to die a horrible, and painful death. I promise. For bread there is nothing like a Bosch. BUT KA is the bomb at mixing batters and things…so…therein lies my dilemma. Should I just splurge and have both?
July is the big birthday month here. I don’t know what God was thinking but 3 out of 8 kids are July babies. Kyrie (5) on the 1st, Nick (8) on the 3rd, and Matt (16) on the 11th. I am making a cake for Kyrie today, haven’t decided what yet. Brilliant. I have waited until the last minute again!
So. Welcome to July.

What a beautiful little girl! My youngest sister is 5, such a fun age!
Happy Birthday Kyrie!!!
Thanks Carrie! SHe is beautiful..inside and out. Especially when she is smeared with chocolate.
I agree about the bosch and bread making. I have pleasant memories of my mom’s KA. It’s still working after 50 years of marriage! It was a wedding present.
I only have two July birthdays. but I have a child’s birthday to celebrate every three weeks starting Sunday and ending on Labor day.
Scatter into that time frame both my mil and fil, one neice, and my grandma who will be 95 on August first!
WOW! Ginger. We are about to have our break. We have birthdays every month from October through July.
My best friend is in August.
SO that leaves September.
Happy B’day to Miss Kyrie!
Happy Birthday Chef Kyrie!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thanks Jen and Gayla..Wait until you see what her present is.
Happy Birthday Kyrie! BTW, I got my coffee and am enjoying a nice cold iced coffee. Thanks so much.
What did you think of the coffee courtney? I didn’t have their flavored so I dont know if that is as good as the other.
Happy Birthday, Kyrie!! If this little one makes his/her appearance in Nov, when I expect it to, we’ll have birthday’s every month from Oct-Mar, one month off in April, then May-July… LOL I love my KA, but I admit, I only make 2 loaves at a time.
I made a nice chiller drink with it and added asplash of raspberry liquour. I liked it. Normally flavored coffees are to cloying , but that was the perfect balance.
Monica! Only 2?
Courtney -THAT sounds great!
