I used to love doing fancy cakes. I did my daughter’s wedding cake and groom’s cake but really since then I have not done many really fancy cakes. And Ifound I missed it. Alot.
I don’t know…It is just a creative outlet for me, like drawing or sewing. Anyway, we have 3 birthdays in the first 2 weeks of July and this year I was a bad mommy and did all three together. No easy feat since the birhtdays were for a 15 yr old boy, a 7 year old boy and a 4 year old girl! Yes, you guessed it …two cakes. We ate cake for a week. Anyway, here are some pictures, and yes I am VERY out of practice-I told you it had been a long time.

So this is my rendition of Strawberry Shortcake. Kyrie liked it. Much better than the spiderman cake her brother had suggested. :/

This is the boys’ cake. 7 candles on one side, 15 candles on the other. I don’t know what I was thinking when I chose colors….John Deere?
The pans are Wilton, of course! There is alot of good information on that site as well as inspiration if you want to learn to do decorating. I also found a ton of websites with cool ideas.
Cupcakes Take the Cake- I especially liked the strawberries and raspberries on chocolate…One of the kids leaning over my shoulder liked spiderman.
Dave’s Cake Gallery …checkout the Goodnight Moon cake!
If this blog does not inspire you, nothign will! Pink Cake Box
cake art I have no idea HOW they did the sewing machine but ..WOW.
Not that these are even in league, but here are a couple of tiered cakes I have done in the past, about halfway down the page.
Life’s a cakewalk, huh?

Cathy did Wilson cakes for a while when the kids were younger. David got Thomas the Tank Engine for his 5th.

Yummy, I love cake! Definitely would not have a problem eating cake for that long. Actually in our house probably wouldn’t last that long
Marye that cake looks beyond great! I think the kids really do appreciate the extra effort for the novelty cakes, too. Not for long, though, before they want to “tuck in”.
Those cakes are beautiful! You did a great job. I used to decorate cakes too, long long ago. My poor 3 year old hasn’t seen one yet. I guess I better do at least one for him.
awww my favorite cartoon was Strawberry Shortcake when I was a little girl. Love it!
My oldest daughter (25 ) loved Strawberry Shortcake too! I think it is so funny to see it come back.
Hi Marye-
Those cakes look great, my daughter would have flipped over the strawberry shortcake, cake. lol
I however, find myself in a bit of a state. Her birthday will be October 27th and she will be turning 3. I was thinking of making a home made cake for her, however almost all the cakes that I have seen. I am not impressed when it comes to princess themes. SO..basically..I am stuck..do you know any cakes that are castles or princess themes? Or does anyone? Please Help!
Thanks and God Bless,
Becca
