Bloggeraid Is NOT Like Koolaid but It Is Cool

So, as I was strolling through the balmy (in the temperate sense not the mental sense) blogosphere last night I saw a couple of my favorite blogs with cute little buttons that I did not have. Bloggeraid? What is that?
So being the curious sort I checked it out and I signed up immediately. I hope, if you have a food blog that you will, too.
Let’s face it, blogs are the new entertainment for the general population. Whether you are looking for celebrity gossip, or how to declutter your personal space, you can find a blog about it. And to be honest, blogs are cooler than hard copy magazines. Why? Because they are interactive, and now that laptops have become commonplace you can still read in the bathroom, although maybe not in the bathtub. ( And do make sure the web camera is set to off.)
Anyway. Bloggers have the ability to communicate with many different people, and to make differences that normal human beings like use would not have been able to even think about BC (before computers). This is from the Bloggeraid website and says it best:
We are a growing group of international food bloggers determined to make a difference in aid of world famine. The love of food and community that brings us together drives the compassion of its members to reach out to our world to help those less fortunate than we are. Banded by a mission of helping to make a change in a world where starvation affects such a profound number of people, we will raise money and awareness for the hungry in communities both at home and abroad.
The food bloggers of Bloggeraid are putting together a cookbook. Recipes are due by Feb 12, so you don;t have much time. This book will be used to raise funds for the hungry. Other bloggers are donating items and doing other things.
You know, whatever your political leanings are you have to agree that no politician, no government can make the kind of difference that each one of us can make as individuals. For too many years we have allowed the government to be a babysitter and a nanny. Our tax dollars often don’t go where we want or support what we want them to. Again, that is true no matter what your political affiliation is! It isn’t going to get better. If you want to support some particular cause like hunger then it is up to you to be involved as an individual. Donate 1/10th of your grocery budget to the local food pantry, work in a soup kitchen, hand sandwiches to homeless people. My family has been involved in all of the above and I can tell you that the rewards in the lives of my children especially have been great. They have an appreciation and compassion for others that many teens seem to lack.
Head over to the Bloggeraid website. Read about it. Think about it. See what you can do to be involved. Some bloggers are donating items for auction, others are helping in other ways.
I have to say that I have NO, absolutely none, confidence in the current American political administration. I am pretty peeved today and could easily go off on a tangent…:::Marye breathes deeply::::: but I won’t. What I will say is that if you wait for ANY government to get it’s head out of it’s nether-regions it just isn’t going to happen. Government was never meant to be a babysitter or a nanny. We were meant to help each other.
Bloggeraid is a great way to do that.

thanks Ivy…things are insane right now but I have high hopes of being more involved soon.
