Classic Desserts for Dad on Father’s Day

Most people I know cook out for Father’s Day, steaks, burgers, brats in beer…you know..MEAT.
And dads tend to be pretty easy going when it comes to dessert..if it is sweet and simple..and has chocolate added it is good.
Is that just our family? I hope not! LOL! Give Marc a steak, a baked potato or a roasted ear of sweet corn, and a generous slice of chocolate cake and he is a happy, happy man.
I thought I would highlight some of the classically dad oriented desserts on Baking Delights today, in case you are trying to figure out what to do.
Mile High buttermilk cake would be awesome but I suggest you frost it with bittersweet chocolate frosting.
Triple Layer Devils Food cake is another good choice.
Classic Yellow cake is…well…classic.
Toffee Dark Chocolate Bundt cake is quick and easy.
For the dad that wants to be impressed there is the Bostini Cream Pie that we did for Daring Bakers.
Bittersweet Chocolate Cake with Orange Curd and Ganache is simple but awesome and has great flavor combos.
Perfect Party Cake has great flavor and a great buttercream recipe.
Hope this helps you to decide what to do. Enjoy your dad, let him know he is special. Life is short.

I hope you have a wonderful Fathers Day:D
Can you make me ALL of them for Fathers Day??!! Hope Marc had a great Fathers’ Day as did you…!! Lotsa love
VAlli- It was good. WIth Chris home, and Erin living here with her family we actually had all the kids under one roof for the first time in 7 years!
Dharm- I would but I am afraid they would gunk up my computer when I uploaded themt o email you..hope you had a wonderful day!
You’re not alone on the meat and chocolate front. Of course, I always like to take my dad out for breakfast at a nice greasy spoon diner when I visit for Father’s Day, but the boyfriend’s family was all about ribs and chocolate-y desserts. Anyway, these desserts sound yummy!
Kait- My dad and I went out for hamburgers. That’s what we always did together. We would get burgers to go and chocolate shakes and sit in front of a local small airport and watch the planes take off and land. We did that for years.
Special times with dads are the BEST.
Another absolutely amazing post. I’m making the bittersweet chocolate cake with orange curd for my birthday this year, which will be an important one for me. Thanks for the great suggestions.
Jen- Let me know what you think.
