First of the Green Beans!

MMMM! I love fresh green beans from the garden. WE picked out first harvest yesterday, fresh beans and cilantro!
I planted a variety, some are the yellow wax type, some are regular green, and some are purple! The purple ones turn green after they are cooked, but Chef Kyrie is happy..happy..happy. She has an imaginary friend named Purpley and so we have decided that these are from Purpley’s garden.
I can’t wait until they really get going and I am canning them for fall. Fresh, organic green beans….lightly steamed and eaten before they have been off the plant for an hour. YUMMY.
By the way….
I am having a tough day today.

YUM!
The purple beans are so fun to grow. The children think it’s cool that when you cook them or par boil them for canning/freezing that they turn green then stay green.
Little things amuse them (me too! lol).
I know, we watched carefully to time the exact moment they turned. small things amuse small minds, right?
YAYYYYYYY! I love green beans too! They look awesome!
I love those first few harvests!
I can’t wait for the green beans Marye. You’re obviously way ahead of the game in growing seasons here. We are still waiting for strawberries…but coming soon. Also I am so sorry you’re having a tough day. It’s sometimes hard to look at life and see all that we do have. Hopefully you will all still be able to visit the gorses:D
GORGEOUS! I’m sorry you’re having a tough day, though.
Puple beans! Something new to me. How fun.
Valli- Our seasons change so rapidly that we tend to get everything at once. Strawberries are in season here as well.
Aww, thanks Jen. It is what it is. It will be o.k..
Courtney- You should check for them. I love them!
I am looking forward the the green beans as well.
Sorry about your horses. Are they going to someone who you can visit? As to the green beans….mmm! THe purple snap are the kind my grandfather grew and I have great memories of snapping them with my grandmother…newspaper, pots, beans!
Kevin- there is just something abut fresh, really fresh green beans, ins’t there?
Claire- I could but I won’t. It would not be good for them or for me.
I’m sorry you’re having a bad day. I do understand how heart wrenching it must feel for you and I so wish I could say something that could make a difference. I just think anything of encouragement only helps when you’re getting there – not when your heart feels heavy.
I’m sending your positive energy.
thanks giz!
Oh my god this is luxury.
Oh how I wish I had a garden! Nothing like cooking when it is freshly picked.
I am so sorry to hear about what you’re going through with your horses… I know how much horses become a true part of the family, and how much their gentle presences will be missed… My sympathy and blog-hugs are with you…
Shibani, it is a blessing!
Kim- you could use containers
Astra- thank you.
Yum, my green beans are only a couple inches tall, so I have a few weeks yet:) Your garden seems way ahead of mine.
I wish you lived next door, then your horses could come live in my pasture (which is empty), and you could come visit them every day. It’s so hard to make the decision to give up a beloved pet, even when you know the decision is the best one for them.
Thanks Linette. I think that we are ahead of you? I planted the green beans the first part of April and I had gotten them in late.
I have tomatoes, cucumbers, and jalapenos almost ready for harvest, and the corn is about thigh high. I planted both sweet white and an heirloom red this year so we will see how much I can keep from the raccoons!
Kyrie and Purpley, thank you for sharing your first harvest with us, they do look YUM
Good to see you Inge!
