Incredible, Easy Butterfinger Cake

On Sunday we had a picnic at church. It was a very special picnic, celebrating the dedication of the building. One of these days I will get some pictures so you can see how beautiful it is.
Anyway. I wanted to take something wonderful and this was it. I have heard it referred to as Holy Cow Cake but we call it Butterfinger Cake. You can use your favorite chocolate cake recipe or even a mix cake to do the base. Bake in a 13x 9 inch pan according to directions. Remove from the oven and poke holes in it with a fork or even a small dowel.
Now, pour 1 can of Eagle brand condensed milk over it. Let that soak in.
While that is soaking make the caramel:
1/2 c unsalted butter
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 c heavy cream
Melt sugar and butter together until smooth. allow to begin to bubble and add cream, stirring it in. Cook for about 30 more seconds and remove from heat.
Allow to cool slightly to thicken up. Now pour THAT over the cake just like you did with the Eagle Brand.
Let cool in the fridge, covered.
You will need to get 6 Butterfinger bars. Chop up four of them in small-ish pieces. Sprinkle them over the cake.
Whip a pint of heavy cream until it starts to thicken and then add sugar to taste. Continue to whip until soft peaks form. Add 1 teaspoon of instant vanilla pudding powder to stabilize the whipped cream.
Spread that over the cake.
Chop up remaining Butterfingers and garnish the top with that.
This cake is incredibly moist, rich and delicious. Guaranteed to give you a sugar rush with the first bite. It is so easy, and so fantastic that it is great for potlucks!

Sounds amazing! Um, how many calories do you think there are in a bite? About a thousand? LOL I’ll have to try this sometime.
I don;t know…but however many there are it is worth it.
That looks incredible Marye! Wow!
Thanks Jenn, it really is.
My mother would completely love this. I’ll have to make it the next time she’s in town. She loves Butterfinger anything and everything, and she loves chocolate and caramel!
I’m so glad your church community has this new, lovely building.
My roommate makes this using cool whip and toffee. Butterfinger would be good but I would prefer maybe a marble or peanutbutter cake. So exciting about the building. We’ve been in our building for just over a year now and it’s been such a blessing, allowing us to use our old building (we decided not to sell it) for a Hispanic congregation!
You misunderstand..We have had this beautiful building for 15 years!
We just thank God every year for it! LOL!
We started out iwth 6 acres and the desire to build on faith and cash…we have 100 acres now, and several buildings..paid for.
That is what we are thankful for..every year.
Marc and I were in on it at the beginning and then went to minister in another area..we have just recently returned and so we were doubly celebrating now!
Marye, diet is a four letter word, but I’m really trying not to eat too much before I go back to Cape Town for summer. You’re not making it easy!
Oh you can do it, and look who is talking! I can;t go to your blog without gaining ten pounds
This one is really over the top but gosh it’s sounds like fun too!
You need to start a bakery.
Oh how decadent! I must try this!
Tanna- it is wonderful
Courtney- I developed this for a tea room we owned and we served it there…
Cathy- fat pants, that’s all I am saying.
That is such a blessing…about the building, finances, and land. There is a church in our area that has also built their building in that manner. And I think that celebrating that every year is wonderful…a marker of God’s faithfulness.
Yes it is Claire..that and we are just a partying church.
