Baking Delights

New Page:Substitutions

March 8, 2008 by Marye Audet

I have added a new page to Baking Delights.  If you look to the right you will see the box marked pages, and in that box there are several pages of incredible, fascinating, and wonderful facts for you to read.  The newest one is substitutions.

I mean, what if you run out of brown sugar part way through a recipe?

If you are reading this anywhere else than Baking Delights, of course, there will not BE a box to your right …So check out http://bakingdelights.com

Great~! Some of these I knew, and some I didn’t. It’s always nice to know what one can use when inthe middle of making a recipe and realizing what is needed is NOT in the cupboard.

I could’ve used this last night! I was making an Ellie Krieger recipe for Mixed Berry Cobbler and the buttermilk in my fridge had expired. Thankfully, I remembered the substitution, but now I’ll just visit your page next time it happens!

What a wonderful resource! Thank you!

heather- glad you liked it. I am going to try to add more pages this week..I want to do a pictorial dictionary.
Bobbi- buttermilk really takes a long time to get bad after the expiration, fyi. I mean, buttermilk is basically spoiled milk anyway.
Astra- thanks! glad you like it.
