Springerle mold (nativity scene) and recipe from House on the Hill. Yena’s was an old Valentine’s cookie stamp from a kids’ baking set we got her big sis years ago, combined with a fluted cookie cutter.

I’ve got pics of painted ones too but they’ll have to wait ’til next week. My eyelids are getting heavier by the minute. There’s a longer story too but it will have to wait.

Those are beautiful! Where did you get the mold?

The mold is from houseonthehill.net, Michelle! They are so beautiful, the maker(s?) is a real artisan. So detailed, especially the deep ones. Must really love what they do to have that kind of patience!

The molds sold by house on the hill are actually resin composites cast from the original molds which were carved as early as the 15th century. They are so beautiful and intricate, they don’t make them like this anymore!
