<p>When I was growing up&#8230;in the ice age&#8230;you did not wear white shoes before Memorial Day or After Labor Day..some very wicked, rebellious souls cheated and got them for Easter but we knew that that was Fashion Faux Pas in the worst way.</p>
<p>Now everyone wears flip-flops (to think, we used to call them <em>thongs</em>) year round, with church clothes and jeans. But I think you are not supposed to wear white flip- flops after Labor Day.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3182" src="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/files/2009/09/kyrie_fountain.jpg" alt="kyrie_fountain" width="450" height="337" /></p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t it funny how Summer really doesn&#8217;t end until the 21st but Labor Day seems to be the last hurrah. I mean after that everyone sort of accepts that summer is over and autumn has begun..and summer slinks away to sleep and dream of beaches and fireflies until Memorial Day&#8230; Caesar screwed up when he made the calender..Summer should start on Memorial Day and end on Labor Day. Serious, he needed to plan ahead.</p>
<p>Ready for the last of the season&#8217;s surfing?<span id="more-3163"></span></p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2520" src="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/files/2009/04/marye-sunburst-12.jpg" alt="marye-sunburst-12" width="450" height="333" /></p>
<p>So surfing the internet I found some cool stuff. Images that made me want to lick the screen. Recipes that made me check the pantry for ingredients&#8230;You guys are talented!</p>
<ul>
<li>Megan tempted me one morning with this <a href="http://meganscookin.blogspot.com/2009/08/chocolicious-tea-cake-with-orange-glaze.html">Chocolate an Orange Tea</a> cake..It was all I could think of for hours.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.zupas.com/index.php/2009/09/recipe-pbj-chocolate-bars/">PB and J Chocolate Bars</a> at Cafe Zupas&#8230;.YUM. Fantastic image!</li>
<li><a href="http://joelens.blogspot.com/2009/09/banana-spice-cupcakes.html">Banana Spice Cupcakes</a> by Joelen look like the perfect after-school snack..or after breakfast..or after lunch..or after nap&#8230;</li>
<li><a href="http://smittenkitchen.com/2009/09/corn-bread-salad/">Cornbread salad</a> made with heirloom tomatoes&#8230;I want it for lunch.</li>
<li>Judy posted <a href="http://nofearentertaining.blogspot.com/2009/09/chocolate-and-key-lime-cupcakes.html">Chocolate and Key Lime cupcakes</a> and a <a href="http://nofearentertaining.blogspot.com/2009/09/mediterranean-orzo-salad.html">Mediterranean Orzo Salad</a>..I couldn&#8217;t choose.</li>
<li><a href="http://dessertfirst.typepad.com/dessert_first/2009/08/apple-pecan-and-cinnamon-crumble-bars.html">Apple, Cinnamon, and Pecan Crumble Bars</a>..I could smell the apples!</li>
<li><a href="http://cookbookqueen.blogspot.com/2009/09/sweet-simple-bakes-september-2009-jammy.html">Doughnut Muffins</a>? That is gonna save a lot of time!</li>
<li><a href="http://cake0rdeath.blogspot.com/2009/09/dulce-de-leche-brownies-and-more.html">Dulce de Leche Brownies</a> are one of my favorites.</li>
<li>Susan continues her journey into Julia&#8217;s world with a fabulous looking <a href="http://doughmesstic.blogspot.com/2009/09/mastering-art-of-french-cookingweek.html">Poulet en Cocotte Bon Femme</a>.</li>
<li>I have heard of a zucchini cake but a<a href="http://straightfromthefarm.net/2009/08/24/from-the-archives-beet-cake/"> beet cake</a>? Images are gorgeous.</li>

<p>From the MOST popular on down&#8230;.</p>
<ol>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2007/08/27/the-50-best-cookie-recipes-on-the-internet/">50 Best Cookie Recipes</a> -I don&#8217;t think I will EVER top this one</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/05/07/pineapple-upside-down-cake-a-classic-recipe/">Pineapple Upside Down Cake</a>-This one always surprises me.</li>
<li><a href="/2008/04/01/how-to-make-your-own-wedding-cake-part-one/">Make Your Own Wedding Cake</a> Part One- This didn&#8217;t surprise me. There are lots of talented baker-istras out there.</li>
<li><a href="/2007/05/28/a-friday-night-tradition-pizza/">Homemade Pizza-</a>This was not much of a surprise either. Surely we can&#8217;t be the only ones that can&#8217;t afford pizza unless it is homemade?</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/06/16/foil-wrapped-beef-brisket-recipes-still-the-best/">Brisket Done in Foil</a>- When you don&#8217;t have a smoker this is awesome.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/06/12/easy-perfect-homemade-hamburger-or-hot-dog-buns/">Homemade Hamburger/Hot Dog Bun</a>- You can&#8217;t miss with these, quick, easy, and delicious.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2007/06/15/double-chocolate-toffee-cookies/">Double Chocolate Toffee Cookies</a>- Who can resist THAT combo? Not me.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/04/05/how-to-make-wedding-cakes-6-helps-tips-and-hints/">How to Make a Wedding Cake #6</a>-Tips and helps so that you don;t have to make the same mistakes&#8230;uh&#8230;others of us have made. <img src='http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/04/04/wedding-cakes-3-shapes/">Wedding Cakes #3, Shapes</a>- This was a surprise to me as well. Who knew?</li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/04/02/wedding-cakes-2stands-stacks-or-tiers/">Wedding Cakes; Stands, Stacks, or Tiers</a>- This is probably the most stressful part of doing a cake!</li>
</ol>
<p>So, there it is. The most popular posts for July. Now, I dont; always think the most popular posts are necessarily the best posts. My favorite recipes for July were:</p>
<ol>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/07/10/orzo-salad-with-asian-ginger-dressing/">Orzo Salad with Ginger Dressing<br />
</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/07/16/plum-and-white-tea-scones/">Plum and White Tea Scones</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/07/08/incredible-easy-butterfinger-cake/">Butterfinger Cake</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/07/11/rosemary-cracked-pepper-bread/">Rosemary Cracked Pepper Bread</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.blisstree.com/bakingdelights/2008/07/01/coconut-ice-cream-a-tropical-treat/">Coconut Ice Cream</a></li>
</ol>
<p>In the Battle of <strong>Kitchen Aid </strong>or <strong>Bosch </strong>on the poll, Kitchen Aid won 5/1. Not surprising. I think I am going to get one of each when I get paid for the cookbook because I don&#8217;t like how kitchaide does on bread.</p>
<p>So&#8230;are you ready for a new month? A new Daring Bakers Challenge, and yes I will probably wait until the last minute even though I say I won&#8217;t. I new poll later today&#8230;and who knows what else to expect? I mean, ask Marc&#8230;even after 28 years every day is an<em> adventure</em>.</p>
