Put away those white shoes, we are now arriving at Labor Day Weekend. Wait..they don’t do that anymore do they?

When I was growing up…in the ice age…you did not wear white shoes before Memorial Day or After Labor Day..some very wicked, rebellious souls cheated and got them for Easter but we knew that that was Fashion Faux Pas in the worst way.

Now everyone wears flip-flops (to think, we used to call them thongs) year round, with church clothes and jeans. But I think you are not supposed to wear white flip- flops after Labor Day.

Isn’t it funny how Summer really doesn’t end until the 21st but Labor Day seems to be the last hurrah. I mean after that everyone sort of accepts that summer is over and autumn has begun..and summer slinks away to sleep and dream of beaches and fireflies until Memorial Day… Caesar screwed up when he made the calender..Summer should start on Memorial Day and end on Labor Day. Serious, he needed to plan ahead.

So surfing the internet I found some cool stuff. Images that made me want to lick the screen. Recipes that made me check the pantry for ingredients…You guys are talented!

Megan tempted me one morning with this Chocolate an Orange Tea cake..It was all I could think of for hours.

Baking Delights Buzz for August First

Talk about your dog days….wow. It is hot and muggy. Even at night it is in the 90’s. Everything is sticky and soggy and I am ready for cooler weather. I know that when it is freezing in here I will complain about that.

Please promise to love me anyway.

In the Battle of Kitchen Aid or Bosch on the poll, Kitchen Aid won 5/1. Not surprising. I think I am going to get one of each when I get paid for the cookbook because I don’t like how kitchaide does on bread.

The 50 Best Cookie Recipes on the Internet

It is 17 weeks until Christmas. This is actually when I start my Christmas baking and freezing so that I have a more relaxed holiday with all the bells and whistles that I love. Every week for the next 17 weeks I will post a make ahead recipe for Christmas…yes I am weird. So, look for that! Today we start out with an explosion of ideas…to go along with the rest of the home and dining channel 50 list…Any of these would be great in the Christmas Cookie exchange…in fact..all of them would be! And you have time to get to all of them if you start now.
