Put away those white shoes, we are now arriving at Labor Day Weekend. Wait..they don’t do that anymore do they?
When I was growing up…in the ice age…you did not wear white shoes before Memorial Day or After Labor Day..some very wicked, rebellious souls cheated and got them for Easter but we knew that that was Fashion Faux Pas in the worst way.
Now everyone wears flip-flops (to think, we used to call them thongs) year round, with church clothes and jeans. But I think you are not supposed to wear white flip- flops after Labor Day.

Remember last week on blogsurfing Saturday I said that I wish I had a logo for this weekly post?  Well Cori, who is a genius with photoshop has created the coolest logo for me.

Ready?
Let’s go…

Well, the first full week of Novemer is over and we are rushing toward the holidays!  I am so not ready this year.  Have you begun preparing?

 
I have missed blogsurfing but life has been so extremely hectic that I haven’t been able to get there!
On a happy note, the VA called to confirm our number of dependents yesterdaya nd said that they had made a decision and we would be getting the letter with their decision in the next 10 days.  You gotta wonder why they just wouldn’t say, “Hey! Good news, as long as we have ya on the phone…this is what we decided…”

 
I am cutting this short today.  Here in Dallas, believe it or not, we are in the midst of a HURRICANE watch!  The sky is darkening ominously even as I type.
We have spent the morning moving the bucks (male goats) to a more protected place.  Their pen is covered by large pecan and black walnut trees which is nice for them in the summer but when we are expecting sustained 60 and 70 mph winds with higher gusts

 
So, how was your fourth of July? Ours was somewhat quiet…Great food, great friends…you know..the usual.
I think that I need to be more aware of my time and how I spend it. Sometimes I seem to just be focused on writing and researching for writing and I forget that there is an entire summer passing me by.  I mean, yes we do need to be able to eat but I think I just need to take a day and head out to Waxahachie to go antiquing, or to the Brazos to float on an innertube…or even to Canton to pick …read more
