iVillage New Food Channel and Contest

Have you seen iVillage’s new Food channel? Check it out at iVillage Food. They sent me this news release and it sounds pretty sweet!

From iVillage:

We’ve got recipes for every occasion imaginable. In celebration of our Food re-launch, we are having an iVillage Recipe Contest on Facebook.

Submit a quick and easy recipe for a chance to win up to $1,000 in groceries! The contest begins now and ends January 17th, 2010. A panel of qualified judges will select three (3) finalists based on the following judging criteria:

• Originality (25%)
• Creativity (50%)
• Length of time in which it takes to prepare and cook the recipe (25%).

Then Top Chef’s Carla Hall will prepare each of the finalists’ recipes and select one (1) winner based on the same criteria listed above.

To enter the iVillage Recipe Contest, follow these two easy steps:

• Become a fan of the official iVillage Facebook Page.
• Click on the contest tab and upload a photo of your best quick and easy recipe.

The prizes awarded will be as follows:

• One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate to a local grocery store located in his or her residential area.
• Two (2) Runner-up Winners will each receive a $500 gift certificate to a local grocery store located in his or her residential area

Ready for Another Giveaway?

This is LONG, be sure to read all the way to the end!

The Sees Candy Giveaway is going to be this weekend. Our family got hit by a major bout of stomach virus..hitting each of us one at a time. Needless ot say I haven’t felt much like dealing with candy.

Anyway. A rep for Pillsbury contacted me and wants to sponsor a giveaway of two Pillsbury classic brownie mixes. There will be two winners chosen.

Now here is the cool thing. From now until Decembe 31 Pillsbury is sponsoring a Make America Sweeter contest. Here is the information I recieved:

Submit an essay on how you make America sweeter with Pillsbury baking products (Cake, Brownies, Quick Bread, Frostings, or Flours) – like bringing treats to seniors or hosting a bake sale at your house of worship
Include a photo or short video illustrating your sweet gesture
Entries can be submitted online at www.pillsburybaking.com/campaign or by mail to Pillsbury Make America Sweeter Contest, P.O. Box 8501, Prospect Hts., IL 60070.

That is so cool! Oh..the prize?? What is the prize you ask? Check this out!

The winner will receive a $5,000 kitchen makeover and runners-up will receive products from KitchenAid® and Pillsbury. Plus, a $5,000 donation will be made to Feeding America^TMto help end hunger in the country.

How cool is that?

But that’s not all! Anyone who enters the contest and publishes the image they entered to Baking Delights FLickr group with the photo labeled Pillsbury contest will ALSO be entered in a drawing to win a 25.00 Gift Certificate to their choice of Amazon.com or Cooks.com.

Need A Kitchen Makeover?

I sure do.

Showing pictures of my kitchen is almost like having promo pictures done without makeup or being naked on the internet.

My dirty little secret. The porch is inviting…My kitchen is awful. Strong stomach? Read on…

First of all, you can register for a kitchen makeover by Electrolux. If you win it is something like $30,000.00 worth of kitchen. Personally, I think I could live with that.

Anyway…

I don’t know why when you renovate the kitchen is last. Maybe it is the idea of it..or how overwhelming a job it is…or just that I could not decide what I wanted…But my kitchen was not the first thing we fixed here.

When Marc got sick the repairs came to an end…and the kitchen was still…well…see for yourself…

Two of the burners on the stove work..and when you lean against it you get zapped. I will never buy another fridgidaire appliance as long as I live. Ever.

Countertop is rotted away from the base…ewww…nasty. I know. Makes you feel better about your kitchen, doesn’t it?

Yes, that is tape falling from the ceiling. Sigh…

So you see…I entered the contest. I hope I win. Being the generous person I am I wanted you to be able to have a chance to win, too.

And now you know why you see food images but no kitchen images…LOL!

Battle For the Presidency:New Poll

Over on the right there is a new poll. Based on each candidates contributions to the foodie world who should be the next president?

I realize that Ms Clinton’s soft scrambled egg recipe has not hit Baking Delights yet, it is scheduled for morning, so you might want to wait to vote until you can see the whites of her eggs.

But if you all ready know that you are not voting for soft scrambled eggs you can get a head start on the voting process.

You can also write in people, but remember in order to be eligible they have to be American citizens.

Now, don’t forget about the contest in all of this electoral excitement! Only a couple more days until the winner of the cookbook is announced adn hte poll goes up for the tagline.
