I don’t know if you remember that song from the Fievel movie, An American Tale. No doubt it is older than some of you.
Anyway, I have this dear friend from childhood. We were absolutely inseparable until we were separated by a move..or two. We had sworn to be lifelong friends…and as I recall pocket knives, thumbs, and blood were involved.
Well, I was waxing poetic in one of my posts one day…thinking of him, his family, and his mom, and I mentioned something that happened and then brazenly said, “and yes…if you are a Willett from Warrington this is about [...]
Post from: Baking Delights

Well, I was waxing poetic in one of my posts one day…thinking of him, his family, and his mom, and I mentioned something that happened and then brazenly said, “and yes…if you are a Willett from Warrington this is about you..” (Classic Yellow Cake) .

While he was doing some blog surfing he came across that very post! Well, I had an email from himself in my professional email box today (and I never check that on Sundays)! I was/ am so very excited and now we are in the process of catching up on the last million years.

Is that cool, or what? I think it will be all o.k..unless he is into grilled Spam and boxed mashed potatoes..

Somehow I doubt it.

If you are real lucky I will tell you about the blackberry jam he and I made one time.

I have an admitted love/hate relationship with the internet..right now? Love it.

We have these friends that have the uncanny ability to drag me away from my computer. No easy task, I will tell you.
But, they do it. How? I will get an email that says something like…. “I made cake today”.
Yes, I am easy. I admit it.
But last night was the best effort yet. Not only was the cake making stated in the email…there were images, yes…food porn in the worst way…Several angles of the most incredible looking Plum Cake that you can imagine. This is the second time this week that they have fed us cake and coffee.

But last night was the best effort yet. Not only was the cake making stated in the email…there were images, yes…food porn in the worst way…Several angles of the most incredible looking Plum Cake that you can imagine. This is the second time this week that they have fed us cake and coffee.

I know, I know..it is tough but someone has to do it, you know?

I have a brilliant and creative mind, right? So when we went this morning I took a dozen eggs and some raw goat’s milk. I figured that with the extra ingredients they could make more cake.

When I saw this cake, any thoughts I had of the Atkins low carb diet went flying from my mind. Yeah..I had been kicking around the idea to give Marc a thinner version of his wife for Christmas. Really, he should just be happy with what he has…Besides, skinny is so..over-rated, right? Right?

Although Andrea assures me that this is GERMAN cake and they make it with GERMAN ingredients therefore it will not make me fat, well I am not sure. Honestly, once you see this cake you don’t really care!

Pat creates these cakes under the exacting supervision of his wife…Andrea says after so many years in the military this is his therapy. I am thinking of sending Marc over there to receive therapy as well. I have a hunch that we would find them in the back yard, throwing eggs up in the air and shooting them down… “Pull!” “Pull!” “Pull!”

Anyway..there just isn’t a better way to begin a morning that great conversation, coffee, and plum cake…

And IF they send me the recipe I will be sure to post it.

I am so excited. Yeah. Really..
I have been submitting images to Foodgawker and TasteSpotting for awhile. I love those sites because there is always something cool on there and it makes it easy to find posts for Saturday Blog Surfing. None of my images was ever quite good enough: over exposed, blurry, blah….

And I had pretty much decided to stop sumbmitting because I don’t take rejection well.
So I submitted my last one last night..and decided to submit three that I thought were my best over the past week or so.

Eclairs
Cauliflower soup
Sopapillas

Over on the right there is a new poll. Based on each candidates contributions to the foodie world who should be the next president?
I realize that Ms Clinton’s soft scrambled egg recipe has not hit Baking Delights yet, it is scheduled for morning, so you might want to wait to vote until you can see the whites of her eggs.
But if you all ready know that you are not voting for soft scrambled eggs you can get a head start on the voting process.
