Anyway.  I thought you would like to know that the menu and recipes for the inaugural luncheon menu have been released and you can recreate the luncheon in all of it’s glory at home.   For some serious change.  Because these ingredients aren’t cheap.

No, my Dem friends, it is not Hiney of Roast Bush.  It is a rather interesting menu that honors President Abraham Lincoln, a move that I thought was inspired, daring, and very, very cool.

Here is the menu:

Seafood Stew (a favorite of Lincoln’s)

Duck Breast with Oregon Cherry Chutney

Herb Roasted Pheasant with Wild Rice Stuffing

Molasses Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Winter Vegetables

Cinnamon Apple Sponge Cake

Over on the right there is a new poll. Based on each candidates contributions to the foodie world who should be the next president?

I realize that Ms Clinton’s soft scrambled egg recipe has not hit Baking Delights yet, it is scheduled for morning, so you might want to wait to vote until you can see the whites of her eggs.

But if you all ready know that you are not voting for soft scrambled eggs you can get a head start on the voting process.

You can also write in people, but remember in order to be eligible they have to be American citizens.

Now, don’t forget about the contest in all of this electoral excitement! Only a couple more days until the winner of the cookbook is announced adn hte poll goes up for the tagline.

I have an idea.

Basically, all politicians are pond scum anyway, and we all know they will say anything to get in office.  You may have a favorite for this reason or that, but I am pretty sure that once who ever gets sworn in they will immediately forget about everything they said they were going to do.  But..food doesn’t lie.  I think that we should vote according to cooking skills and favorite recipes.

So, to begin that….I thought I would post recipes for those things that the top candidates say that they like, or they can cook…or both.  Right now, it looks like it is going to be McCain/ Clinton or McCain/Obama .

I have to tell you that as a conservative, and yeah, I am a heavy duty, card carrying conservative… I am moving to Iceland.  A cave in Iceland.  I will roast reindeer haunch over dried seabird droppings.  I seriously don’t trust any of those three. I am looking for the president that will over-turn the trend toward Big Brother and I sure don’t see it in that group.

Anyway.  Here are the foods that the top candidates say they can cook:

McCain- Baby back ribs

Obama- Chili

Clinton-”I am a lousy cook, but I can make soft scrambled eggs.”(USAToday)

O.k..what happened to her cookie recipe? I told you..you can’t trust these people.

Over the next few days I will post each of their recipes, and we will take a quick vote for president based on FOOD, people, let’s not be weak willed and base this on politics, o.k.?
