I love this picture.
I won an award!
If you aren’t a blogger, or you haven’t been blogging long you may wonder at the excitement of being given a little picture to slap on your blog and have it called an award. It isn’t like you are going to get your picture in the paper or anything, right?
Yeah..but out of the thousands of you that read this blog everyday an average of 10 will comment, maybe. For all I know everyone else is just passing through on their way to Epicurious
So, getting the award is a way [...]
Post from: Baking Delights

I love this picture.

I won an award!

If you aren’t a blogger, or you haven’t been blogging long you may wonder at the excitement of being given a little picture to slap on your blog and have it called an award. It isn’t like you are going to get your picture in the paper or anything, right?

Yeah..but out of the thousands of you that read this blog everyday an average of 10 will comment, maybe. For all I know everyone else is just passing through on their way to Epicurious

So, getting the award is a way of recognizing someone for achievement, and the more you respect the person who gave it to you the cooler it is.

I am up at 4 a.m. this morning. I think I am at that point in my life where you stop sleeping really well? Anyway, I finally don;t have a baby waking me up in the wee hours and now I have hormones doing it. yay.

Blurry eyed, I make my way to the computer, noticing that the lights are on and the 14 year old who had a friend sleep over last night is still up with said friend… Sigh. He will be worthless later. I cheerily bid them good morning…(o.k..not really, I said, “Hey! You guys were supposed to go to bed! Why is the computer AND the T.V. on? And why are half the downstairs lights on?) and open up the browser to check here first.

What to my wondering eyes should appear but a notice telling me that Pixie has linked me to her blog! WOW. So I rush over to You Say Tomato I Say Tomato to find that she has not only linked to me she has mentioned my name TWICE. Yeah! Queen for a Day I tell ya.

So anyway she gave me, not just an award but an award for CREATIVITY! Woohoo! Many thanks Pixie, I will put this in my display case.

Here it is, the Arte y Pico award, used with permission of the creator, and Pixie of course.

So, now I choose 5 blogs that I think are consistent with Rule#1.

1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogger community, no matter of language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award-winning, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winning and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico“blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5) To show these rules.

So…My picks are the following:

Chocolate and…

And what? There doesn’t need to be anything else, does there? Chocolate and air, chocolate and life, chocolate and…yeah. Lisa’s blog is one I have only just discovered in the past few days, but she has absolutely won me over with recipes for Butterfingers, chocolate croissants, and her Daring Bakers polka dot cheesecakes on a stick.

Sarah of Once Upon a Cookie absolutely bowled me over with her cheesecake pops. I think that out of all I saw hers were the most beautiful…and creative..don’t forget creative. She always has something amazing going on.

I used to do cakes, and once in awhile I still do the occasional wedding cake or birthday cake for a friend. So, when I say that someone does cakes worth looking at I promise they are worth looking at…Like..The Caking Hobbyist. I got there this morning to grab the url and saw the most awful cake I had seen. I thought, with my sleepy, non-caffeinated brain that I was at the wrong blog..so I refreshed the screen. And then my eyes cleared and I read the post…whew. Anyway, check out Doreen’s blog for some beautiful cakes, and some very scary ones.

Confessions of an Apron Queen is a new daily stop for me. Not always about food but always, always entertaining…if for no other reason that she has her blog plastered with retro images of women in aprons including a few old pin-ups that are wonderful…It is definitely a visual treat over there.

Another daily stop for me is right here at b5 Lifestyles. Jennifer and Peggy do a great job over at TreeHugging Family. It’s not easy being green but they have some incredible suggestions, and it is always a treat to read.

There…Five. Are there more I would award? Oh yes! But these five are my picks for today.

Now…hey, you came here to surf, right?

I am going to unabashedly promote my own post today. Some of you may not know that I also do a blog called Kettle and Cup about, what else? Coffee and tea. All week long I have been doing a Tea with Me tour of our house there but the post I want you to read is Something Different for Mother’s Day.

Flowers in the Kitchen is a fun blog, with great images and very imaginative recipes. Best of all she uses alot of local ingredients, another bit soapbox for me.

Boscoe, the Cookie Doctor. What? Yep. That’s the name. Do you love it? I do. Again, a new blog to me, but one that I am visiting often..I enjoyed the commentary but it was when I hit the recipe for Gingersnap, Raspberry, and Grand Marnier Ganache Sandwich Cookies that I was hooked.

Cabbage Roses and Cupcakes has an amazing ability to suck me in to the blog as time ticks away without me being aware of it. The recipe for chocolate mousse cake is incredible and garnished with pink rose petals it is divine.

Kopiaste is a Greek food blog that I met through Valli at More than Burnt Toast. It is fantastic! A feast for the eyes and the …well..I am almost always hungry when I come away from there.

And…Visions of Sugarplum. More specifically, Macadamia Nut Ale Brownies with White Chocolate-Toffee Ganache.

And that is all I am saying about that.

Have a great weekend…..Oh, and….

Award used by permission, Arte y Pico

Welcome to this week’s installment of Saturday Surfing… First of all, I want to remind you guys about the contest here at Baking Delights. You only have to blog it to enter for the cookbook, or leave an idea for a tagline to enter for the gift certificate. Be creative. Please? Taglines are NOT my best thing..in fact I am thinking of starting a website called Taglines-R-not-us for people who really want bad tag lines.
O.k…well…

Welcome to this week’s installment of Saturday Surfing… First of all, I want to remind you guys about the contest here at Baking Delights. You only have to blog it to enter for the cookbook, or leave an idea for a tagline to enter for the gift certificate. Be creative. Please? Taglines are NOT my best thing..in fact I am thinking of starting a website called Taglines-R-not-us for people who really want bad tag lines.

O.k…well…

The Foodie Blogroll has changed. I have it up on Apron Strings and Simmering Things, because I don’t have creative license to what goes in the sidebars here…but I consider Baking Delights part of the blogroll. I can’t remember how many foodie blogs are on it now but there are a ton….and new ones every day.

One of the new ones is A Pot of Tea and a Biscuit. Welcome to the foodie blog roll, Sylvie! She has an awesome recipe for curried chicken parcels, which I am also pretty sure you could make ahead and use as part of your Once A Month Cooking line up.

If you think you have seen cupcakes, let me tell you..you have NOT seen cupcakes until you visit All Things Cupcake. Absolutely a cupcake feast for the eyes.

Look what I found on Home Gourmets! Hidden Chocolate Tarts. I would like to hide some of these away, myself!

Check out my cruller recipe on Apron Strings. It really came out awesome and I am ready to make some more! I liked the way that I shaped them, and so did the kids.

Stop by More Than Burnt Toast and congratulate Valli for winning the Royal Foodie Joust for February! She made Citrus Spice-Rubbed Baby Back Ribs…and…ummm…wow.

At Mrs Sac’s Purple Kitchen, Melissa cooks up an awesome version of one of my favorites, chicken tortilla soup.

Piggy’s Cooking Journal is not just a great food blog. The design of it and images are aesthetically perfect. She is part of the Tuesdays with Dorie crew and made some fantastic looking snickery bars this week.

Pixie is another one of my must read bloggers. She is magically amazing, as she has already eaten breakfast for tomorrow…oh wait..she is on the other side of the world!! Anyway..she creates Bagels on her blog, You Say Tomato..I Say Tomato

At Cafe Lynnylou Lynne makes a spiced blueberry grunt…did I mention my adoration of all things blueberry?

Dharm cracks me up…Call it sexist but a guy who cooks intrigues me…because…well…other than the grill, Marc would starve to death without me. We have a system..he keeps gas and oil in the car and I keep food in his belly. It has worked for 28 years…ANYWAY..

Dharm at Dad~Baker & Chef creates his grandmother’s recipe for Caramel Custard and it looks fabulous. Apparently his grandma made it for them when they were sick..I would have been sick constantly I think!

Check out the cake balls on Megan’s blog, which is aptly named, Megans Cookin. They look fantastic.

Laurie at the Quirky Cupcake announced the ingredient for March, which is Marshmallow. If you are going ot take part get your entry in by the 28th.

The Way the Cookie Crumbles is not a blog that I have ever visited before…so I head over there to see what’s up…and what’s up is..Oh my gosh…raspberry bars. Did I mention that raspberries are also adored by yours truly? So when I stopped licking the screen……

and went on to Jen at Canadian Baker only to find….Cranberry Pear bars.

So I am done..I have gained 20 lbs looking at this stuff. Everything looks good, and now I am craving food…

Hey, if you have a food blog, and you haven’t ever commented leave a comment! I like blog visiting on Saturdays and I would love to see what you are doing.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to spring forward to night with the clocks. I dislike this time change..I prefer the autumn one, by the way, but no one asked me.
