Shiloh made these for breakfast on Sunday morning. Actually she made them Saturday and the entire house was filled with the aroma of vanilla. It was incredible. The girl can cook.
These are a soft and cake-y muffin full of flavor. Use a good quality baking chocolate and chop it up in random sizes for the best effect and flavor. You can use any sort, we prefer bittersweet chocolate for baking at our house.
Chocolate Chip Muffins

- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the sour cream. Begin and end with the flour.
- Quickly blend in the orange peel, chocolate, and pecans. Spoon into muffin cups. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

I’ve been adding some plain yogurt to some of my muffins lately….probably does the same as your sour cream. I don’t know why, but they sure do taste more yummy…
I can see whre the orange would be a great addition… chocolate and orange have always been a perfect pairing…
Anything with orange, chocolate and sour cream and I’m there! Except I’m going to have to find a less decadent version.
I dont know Vee, but you are right, it is awesome.
Jen, try fat free or low fat buttermilk.
did they actually last until Sunday breakfast? Here, they certainly wouldn’t… hmm, craving muffins this morning…
we hid them. Everyone knows if they eat sunday’s breakfast Satuday then they are very spiritual and fast breakfast sunday…
this picture is awesome marye, did you submit to foodgawker and/or tastespotting??
i love this easiness of this recipe. i might have to whip it up next month when i’m allowed to do internet recipes again.
ACK! LAn..nope I didn’t ..they always turn me down..except once. LOL! I can’t handle the rejection!
It looks absolutely perfect.
thanks CYnthia…:)
I don’t see the amount of sugar to include. I used 1/2 cup and they tasted great. Lots of good chunks of chocolate and nuts.
Hooper- sorry…it is 3/4 but that does make them quite sweet! I fixed the recipe.
Oh they look so wonderfully tender! How could you go wrong with good chocolate . . . I’ll take two please.
i have been hunting high and low for the perfect choc chip muffin and here i have found it! thanks, i just finished baking them and they came out terrific! i did not have any sour cream on hand and used plain yogurt instead and it was still great! Kids just cannot stop eating them! thank you!
