hershey’s gift basket

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to confirm with Hershey’s that they would be o.k. with what I wanted to do.  Because my readers are the COOLEST.

This is a Hershey’s Kiss gift basket, check it out..there are all kinds of goodies in here to make Holiday baking your best ever.  And you have four chances to make it yours.

According to Hershey 71 percent of holiday bakers will use Hershey’s Kisses in their baking this year.  I don’t know what the percentage is of people that will use something of Hershey’s but I bet it is close to 100%.

So..you want to win this and you wish I would just be quiet and tell you how? Yeah…o.k.

First of all there will be a gift basket given away every week for the next four weeks.  That takes us right in the the middle of holiday baking.  I will choose a winner, using the random number generator every friday.    You have 3 chances per week to win.

  1. Leave a comment on this post this week.  There will be a NEW contest post every week. You must leave comments on the new post each week to be entered for that week. Entries will not carry over from prior weeks.
  2. Leave another comment telling what your favorite chocolate recipe is using Hershey products (ie:chocolate thumbprint cookies)
  3. Blog this contest and leave a comment with the blog link on this post.
  4. Contest is only open to the residents of the United States and Canada.

Each comment will give you one chance to win for a total of three chances per week.  I am really excited about this, and I hope you are too!

And here is a recipe from Hershey to get you started!

hershey’s caramel cookies

Caramel Thumbprint Cookies

Remove the wrappers from 66 Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates filled with
Caramel, and lightly grease several cookie sheets. In a large bowl, beat together one family size original supreme brownie  mix with Hershey’s Syrup pouch, 1/4 cup Hershey’s Cocoa, two eggs, one tablespoon of vegetable oil and one tablespoon of water. Cover and refrigerate about one hour or until thoroughly chilled (dough will still be sticky).
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and shape dough into 48 one-inch balls. (Return dough to refrigerator if necessary).
Roll balls in ground pecans, if desired. Place on prepared cookie sheet and press thumb gently in center of each cookie.
Bake nine-to-11 minutes or until set. Cool completely.
Place 18 Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates filled with Caramel and 2-1/2 teaspoons of milk in a small, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at medium power for 30 seconds, and stir. If necessary, continue heating on medium power at 10 second intervals, stirring after each heating, until melted. Spoon 1/4 teaspoon, slightly rounded, of the caramel filling in each  cookie’s indentation, and lightly press one Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate filled with Caramel in the center of each cookie.

I’ll give you my favourite recipe if you’ll pick me. It’s Hershey’s Kiss Mini-Smores.

On half a graham cracker, place one Hershey’s kiss between two mini marshmallows. Toast in a 350 degree oven for about 4 minutes or until everything is gooey, but not runny. Top with the second graham cracker top.

I’ve made a lot of Hershey recipes, but one of my favorites is the Special Dark Picnic Cake. It’s easy to make and so yummy! The dark chocolate in both the cake and the frosting makes it very rich, and the frosting is so creamy and chocolatey I could eat it by itself!!

Ooooh. All this talk about s’mores and thumbprint cookies and Kisses has me hungry now! Your cookies look (and sound) amazing. I’m definitely running out to buy some caramel-filled Kisses this weekend to give this one a try! :) Caramel, chocolate, and pecans? How could you go wrong?

I do have a question, though. How did you grind your pecans? They don’t look very fine, and I’m afraid I’ll over-grind mine if I put them in, say, the food processor.

  19. Marye says:

JoJo that image is from the Hershey;’s Site…
Chopping pecans the old fashioned way, with a knife is the best way to do it though.

good to hear about this contest this might be the only time girls can share chocolate. Hershey is a sweet wonderful place
    Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Fudge
    Ingredients:
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY’S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    Dash salt
1 cup REESE’S Peanut Butter Chips
    Directions:
    1. Line 8-inch square pan with foil.

    2. Combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt in heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter chips; stir quickly just to distribute chips throughout mixture. Spread evenly in prepared pan.

    3. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Remove from pan; peel off foil. Cut into squares. Store tightly covered in refrigerator. 3 dozen pieces or about 2 pounds.

NOTE: For best results, do not double this recipe.

  21. Jennie Wilson says:

    The rules of Chocolate
If you’ve got melted chocolate all over your hands, you’re eating it too slowly.

Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car?
The solution: Eat it in the parking lot.

Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It’ll take the edge off your appetite, and you’ll eat less.

If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.

If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don’t they actually counteract each other?

    Money talks. Chocolate sings. Beautifully.

Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger. Therefore, you need to eat more chocolate.

Put “eat chocolate” at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.

A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Now, isn’t that handy?

If you can’t eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can’t eat all your chocolate, what’s wrong with you?

If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated. You can’t let that happen, can you?

Does the president know about this secret weapon?
Give samples of this recipe to the insurgents in Iraq, & I’ll just about guarantee that we’ll get them to surrender!

  23. themaninthemoon says:

I’m trying to develop a relationship by adding a melted hershey bar to the crust of a no-bake cheese cake. But I’m not sure if I should melt the chocolate in a separate pan & pour it over the crust, or if I should try to melt it as I precook the crust. If I can kill two birds with one stone, then I won’t have to worry about scorching my chocolate in the pan.
And for the filling, I just blend my cream cheese with an equal part of cool whip, & sour cream, in my food processor.
    Wish me luck, ….

  24. Marye says:

Suggestion..melt in the microwave and pour over the crust.

  25. Dana says:

Thank you for having this contest for the Hershey’s Chocolate Basket! I love chocolate!

  26. Dana says:

Here is a favorite and easy sweet and salty candy recipe…
    Chocolate Pretzel Candy
    48 to 50 pretzels rings
    1 (8 oz.) bag Hershey’s milk chocolate kisses(any flavor)
1/4 cup red and green regular or peanut M&M’s
    1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
    2. Place pretzels on foil or parchment papaer-lined cookie sheets; place a chocolate kiss in the center of each pretzel ring. Bake at 275 degrees for 2-3 minutes or until chocolate is softened.
    3. Remove from the oven. Place an M&M candy on each, pressing down slightly so chocolate fills the pretzel.
    4. Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes or until chocolate is firm. Store at room temperature. Yield: about 4 dozen.
