You asked where baby-wearing and breastfeeding helped us go... probably the most adventurous for me was climbing Mount Sinai with a 3-month-old and a 20-month-old. Our climb included a camel-ride followed by a steep hike. You can read the story and see the pictures here: http://blissfule.me/?p=113

Don't those people who wonder if the baby is uncomfortable in there know that babies tell you EXACTLY the moment they become uncomfortable or awkwardly positioned? And what could be more comfortable and comforting than being all cuddled up right next to Mom's body?

I had a ring sling, a Baby Bjorn, and a Hotsling that I used with my DD until all she wanted to do was run around :) I used each for different reasons at different ages. There were those people who would say things like "you held that baby for nine months and you're still holding her?" My response was "I love my baby and I love holding her..." or my grandmother would say that i was holding her too much and she won't learn how to walk properly...i can hardly keep up with her at 3 1/2 yrs!!!!
I believe her vocabulary and speech are much better and clearer than her peers because i would talk to her about the world when i wore her...which was almost all the time ;o) not something you get with a stroller.
AND so much easier to breastfeed while baby wearing AND so much easier to get around places (the mall, stores, food shopping, theme parks...) while babywearing! even before i had a baby, i vowed never to go to Disney with a stroller, partly because i was always getting a stroller in my heels from other parents...

First of all, Laurie looks fabulous for 7 weeks PP! Dang, girl.
Second of all, I HATE when people say my son looks uncomfortable in his sling when he is happily nursing away (they can't tell) or sleeping. He has always loved being in his sling. Most people compliment me on my sling and tell me how cool they think it is, though.

I tried the slings, but my daughter did nothing but scream in them. I think it was partly my fault, because I had no real idea how to use them properly (so I don't know if I had it on right or not) and partly because I think she had a mild case of reflux (she refused to sleep flat and a wedge positioner helped a lot with that). Do you have any suggestions for videos (maybe on youtube?) that may help with getting the sling on correctly? I always felt so strange wearing it, I am sure I must have had it on wrong. In the end, I bought a Baby Bjorn-style carrier that she loved. We used it extensively on vacation until she grew out of it. Now she refuses to be carried at all! Chasing a toddler is tiring!
