Hubby found this poll on the internet when we were having a debate on whether women let hubby’s taste their breast milk. I am currently nursing a 6 week old and during lovemaking i leaked – i sprayed and he got a taste! he says its sweet and wants more and i say no! lol – i think i will let him
I still trying to wean daytime comfort nursing. It’s hard. I did stop the night time feedings by going to the gym at night. By the time I get home she is asleep and in bed. This has worked for the both of us. I het a workout, rime to myself and she has bonded with my husband. She now goes to him more regularly to fall asleep. I don’t pick her up in the middle of the night when she cries. Sometimes she will cryfor 5 min or up to 30 min but she eventually goes to sleep. She hates cows milk but I never thought to try soy or rice I will try that. Hope it works because I want to be done.
Oh my, I am going through that currently with my 11.5 month old! She switches back and forth continually and it sometimes drives me nuts. Makes it hard to nurse her in public now because she always wants the side thats covered up. Im glad to hear its normal and I’m not the only one dealing with this!
That is so true about my 21-month-old – he has busy hands! Sometimes I will hold his hand, but I’ve taken to wearing button-down pajama tops, so it’s harder for him to pinch a lot of skin – it hurts! So glad to hear it’s not me – I might try using words to discipline it. Thanks!
I have a mole on my right side, and it has become a major battleground with my toddler. It’s particularly irksome when he’s going to sleep and twiddling it, because I don’t really want to have a showdown at that point, you know?
The other one that bugs me is that my toddler will occasionally bite me for comedic effect. He pulls off, looks at me, and very slowly moves in with his teeth. He thinks it’s the funniest thing EVER. I don’t let it slide and he usually stops, but he’ll try it every once in a while, I think just for kicks or to see if it still makes me leap. Fun!
While my toddler used to bite occasionally, now she’s got a new technique — instead of popping off when she’s done nursing, she sometimes slowly slides off the nipple, scraping with her teeth as she goes. I suspect it has to do with teething. She went from having 8 teeth to 16 teeth in under a month! No wonder I haven’t been getting much sleep!
This benefits summation of the 2009 Breastfeeding Health news was excellent! I wish every expectant mother could be somehow exposed to this information. Interesting follow-on link to the Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog for the well done podcast interview with Dr. Stuebe on the problem with formula company diaper bags being given out by hospitals.
My 9 month old, pinches me often. When she’s nursing for nap or bedtime that’s when her hands are the busiest. I find that if you hold hands or give them something soft to rub it’s happens less often. Rubbing and twisting the skin are comfort measures. I’m trying to get her to take a sippy cup but no luck. She will drink from straw or regular cup. Any tips?
Hi KaelynMom,

Best wishes!
In our religion, if you drink any girl’s breast-milk, that girl becomes equal to your mother and then, u can not have sex with her. Breast-feeding is good only and only for children and not for the adults. Science will find this fact one day or the other. I bet!
My 30 month old twists and pinches my skin often. It hurts! I do what you suggest, Angela. I ask her to stop pinching because it hurts Mama and if she continues then she is not allowed to nurse. She is in the process of weaning and usually nurses 1x every other day, but we are also potty training, so we’ve got a lot of transitions going on in our house! Makes for unpredictable patterns of nursing, but I’m ready to be and she’s almost ready. It’s a good place to be!
I have coslept with all 3 of my little ones (and breastfed all), the eldest now being 18 years and youngest 10 months. Did not start out that way but after having a very colicky baby found it worked the best. And before anyone could tell me I was wrong, found a wealth of info out there about why bub should be close by not in ‘another room’. So slept with the other 2 even though not as difficult sleepers. It has definitely made my mothering experience more positive as I have not been in ‘conflict’ with bubies as meeting their needs. BTW your 18 yo definitely will not want to sleep with you or breastfeed (as some professionals make out will happen if you don’t force/train them otherwise) it just happens.
