Controversy over Angelina Jolie’s Breastfeeding Picture

The November cover of W magazine shows a picture taken by Brad Pitt of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding one of their twins. Take a moment to vote in the poll that asks whether the breastfeeding picture is “Gorgeous” “OK” or “Gross.” I’m sure you can guess where I land on the matter. To me she’s never looked more beautiful or natural!
La Leche League spokeswoman Jane Crouse applauded Angelina:
Breast-feeding in public reveals a whole lot less than what has been revealed on the red carpet. … I think we do need more role models like Angelina Jolie willing to be photographed and say, ‘Hey look, it can be done, it oughta be done.
I applaud her too! Not only is she breastfeeding twins, she’s also willing to talk about it and share such a lovely picture. How precious are those tiny fingers at the breast?!

I’m not a huge fan of Angelina, but I think this is a beautiful picture – the most beautiful I have seen of her. Congrats to W for making that their cover and I’m THRILLED to see that over half of the people thought this picture was gorgeous!
I’ve always loved Angelina (although I didn’t think Brad was all that hot until he hit 40 or so – what can I say, I like older men!). I am so excited about this magazine cover. I’ve never bought this magazine before, but this month I’m going to spend the money, if for no other reason than to show support of this picture!
The poll results right now have 57% Gorgeous, and only 11% Gross. Yea!
I’m also not a big fan of Angelina, but I LOVE this picture…those little hands! What a wonderful example she is setting (finally)!
Absolutely beautiful!
Go Angelina!
I still find it hard to believe that in our over-sexed culture, anyone could find this gross or indecent (hello, Barbara Walters?). Babies need to eat, breastmilk is far superior, end of story.
Kudos to all the celebrity moms who are setting an example with their breastfeeding. It’s a beautiful thing and should be regarded as such. Especially with all the tainted products out there, why wouldn’t you want to give your child the perfect food tailor made just for them? I loved nursing my daughter, it felt so wonderful to be able to give her that kind of comfort.
I’m a big supporter of extended breastfeeding as well. A friend of mine’s 18 month old was diagnosed with a very rare form of childhood cancer earlier this year. She thanks God she was still nursing as the breastmilk was often the only fluid the child could keep down while undergoing chemo and it saved her from being fed through iv’s. She now is cancer-free and we both feel that the breastmilk may well have been a lifesaver in that case.
Loved it!
I think Angelina looks very natural and beautiful. I do think the fact that she is breastfeeding is kinda gross, but it is a natural thing. As long as you dont actually see any nudity, i think its fine. She has already shown her body in a nude way, so its nothing new. If she is okay with it, then its fine with me. i love angelina and she is a wonderfull person with an amazing talent in acting. I wonder if she can sing! I hope to meet her some day.
