How to Sew Your Own Nursing Pillow, Shirt, Bra & Pumping Bra, Cloth Diapers & More

Jan Andrea's Baby CraftsJan Andrea offers an amazing collection of free patterns and instructions for sewing your own breastfeeding accessories. Click on the links to:

Sew your own nursing pillow (like a Boppy or Brest Friend)
Make your own nursing shirts from regular t-shirts
Convert a regular bra into a nursing bra (particularly helpful for hard-to-find sizes)
Convert a regular bra into a hands-free pumping bra

She also offers patterns for:

All kinds of slings and baby carriers, including no-sew ring slings and ring-less slings or tube-style pouches
Breastfeeder’s diaper bag/purse
Cloth diapers and cloth menstrual pads

I wish I’d known about all of these sooner! Now I can’t wait to get sewing!

Don’t forget about the projects I offer here at Breastfeeding 1-2-3:

How to Sew Your Own Baby Bibs
How to Sew Your Own Baby Sling (ring sling)
How to Make Your Own Beaded Nursing Necklace

As always, if you make any one of these projects, please consider sending me a photo of yourself and/or your baby and the finished product to be published on the blog!

  1. Shelly says:

    Great links, thanks!

  2. Angela says:

Glad you liked it Shelly! Let us know if you end up sewing anything–I’d love to hear your review.

  3. Barb says:

Oh my gosh – I am just getting to this entry into the Festival of Family Flair! How funny, as I just submitted my own entry into your carnival. ;)

Anyway, I am sending this link to a couple of my online lists right now! I know so many of the members there will appreciate this compilation. Personally, I can’t sew, but I’ve purchased these things from WAHMs who do. Although I *have* always wanted to make a no-sew wrap… no more kids for us, though, so maybe it’ll be a gift. :D

  4. Angela says:

Small world!! Thanks so much for passing on the link. I’m glad you find the information helpful.

  5. Shari says:

    I love these suggestions!

  6. Thanks Shari! Come back and let us know how it goes if you sew something!
