Petition to Change Airline Rules for Breast Milk

Recently I wrote about the U.S. Transportation Security Administration’s policy that limits the amount of expressed breast milk a mother can carry on a plane when traveling without her baby. Many women unaware of the rules have had to throw away precious breast milk. If enough people express (no pun intended!) their outrage at this, perhaps the administration will change its policy. You can voice your opinion by signing the e-petition “Unlimited Expressed Breast Milk on Board Airplanes Now!” Specifically, the petition calls for the guidelines to be changed to the following:
1. Separate pumped breast milk from the liquids, gels, and aerosols in your quart-size and zip-top bag.
2. Declare pumped breast milk to one of our Security Officers at the security checkpoint.
3. Present pumped breast milk for additional inspection once reaching the X-ray.
The full text of the petition can be read here.
Thanks to Tanya at Motherwear for the heads-up! I’ve signed the petition and I hope others will too.
