Remember this Mom-to-Mom question asking for tips for traveling with a nursling and for advice about nursing in a dress at a wedding? This toddler nursing photo addresses the second part of the question by demonstrating one way of breastfeeding while wearing a fancy dress. The mother in this case wore a nursing bra underneath a dress that could be pulled aside at the top.

What a darling little flower girl! I suspect that toddler nursing break was just the thing she needed to re-charge and re-connect during the excitement of the wedding and reception! Her mother looked gorgeous too and I think it’s great she didn’t have to retreat to another room to hike up a dress in order to nurse.

I love that photo!
What a beautiful picture. Makes me look forward to breastfeeding my little one into toddlerhood.
Sorry ladies, I find this picture gross and offensive. As a senior mom, my experience with friends, family members and others who have nursed their babies into toddlerhood is not positive to say the least. In fact, I think their children had very strong adjustment problems, among others. I nursed my girls till 12 months and I think it is quite enough. To nurse a toddler at a wedding? Give me a break! She wants to do it at home, that’s her decision, but in the middle of the wedding?! what’s she trying to prove?
The only thing gross is people’s ignorance and our ignorant western society! This is what boobs are for!
As a senior mom myself, I’ve watched many breastfed toddlers develop into exceptionally confident and well-adjusted young people.
A mother who nurses her toddler in public is not trying to prove anything except that she respects her child’s needs and is not about to let others attempt to shame her.
Ah, if only bridesmaid dresses were that easy to nurse in!
I too think this is a truly beautiful photograph. I don’t see there are any points to prove, other than the amazing relationship that simply is between this mother and child, deeply in love, doing as nature intended. My wish is to be able to continue to feed my baby well into toddlerhood, as I have witnessed many do, and the well adjusted, confident little people that are nurtured.
