For me, sex life was hampered because I had such a strong let down and would leak profusely. I went through many pads a day, having to change after each nursing. Well, having sex with a nursing bra and pads on just didn't put either of us in the mood! Once my boobs calmed down (many months later!) and I could at least get by with just a sleeping bra and no pads, then things improved.

I know that, for me, a combination of breastfeeding hormones and being worn out from 'round-the-clock nursing diminished my sex drive. Many moms just have no sexual desires because of the breastfeeding hormones and often, even if you do feel like having sex, your body won't cooperate and lubricate! I think that can put a damper on sex. Dad might think he's doing something wrong or mom is embarrassed.

Once my son started solids and I was nursing less and back at work, my drive came back. I'm assuming my hormone levels were regulating somewhat.

I think it's important to not forget that you are a woman and a sexual being and get too caught up in being a "mom." Exercise helps, as does treating yourself to sexy lingerie, getting your hair done, a manicure or whatever made you feel good before you had your baby.
