It’s that time of year again for National Delurking Week, January 4 to January 10, 2009! Heck, why limit it to the United States? Let’s make it International Delurking Week (that was for you, Half Pint Pixie!)
So if you’re out there but rarely or never comment, please do so now! It’s your chance to say hello, say what you like and don’t like about the blog, and give me the inspiration to keep posting! You can even use …read more

Who Is up to the Challenge of NaBloPoMo 2008?

Time swiftly approaches for this year’s National Blog Posting Month, NaBloPoMo! Bloggers across the blogosphere will sign up to the challenge of posting at least once a day for the entire month of November. Last year I formed a Breastfeeding and Mothering Group, which now consists of 76 members. Are you up to the challenge? (I admit, I am not up to the challenge this year. I find having a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 3-month-old challenging enough at the moment!) You are certainly not limited to posting about breastfeeding — to join our group you simply need to be …read more
Just for Fun: A Breastfeeding 1-2-3 “Wordle”

This is one of those things that is probably more fun for me than for you, unless you have your own blog and would also get a kick out of creating a Wordle.
Wordle uses the text or RSS feed from a blog to create a “word cloud.” You can play around with the colors, font, and word orientation. You can even remove words you don’t want to appear. Thanks to Half Pint Pixie for the inspiration! Join us in the fun and create your own Wordle. Feel free to leave a comment with a link to your creation!

This contest has ended. Thank you for all the wonderful comments!
Hard to believe it’s been two years of blogging at Breastfeeding 1-2-3! That’s 758 posts, 2,838 comments, and 103,307 spam comments! To celebrate, I am running a contest to give away If These Boobs Could Talk: A Little Humor to Pump Up the Breastfeeding Mom. This book would be perfect for the BTDT (been-there-done-that) breastfeeding mother who is well-established in breastfeeding her baby and can laugh at any bumps in the road along the way. The book description says, “In this humorous tribute to the lactating legacy of breastfeeding moms, …read more

Reader contributions make all the work worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your breastfeeding stories and answering the Mom-to-Mom questions!

Tanya reminded me that National De-lurking Week is traditionally the second week in January. So let me know you’re out there with a hello, a comment about the weather, the funny thing your kid said today, whatever! If you want to participate on your own blog, check out the graphics compiled last year by I Speak of Dreams.

This month the Carnival of Breastfeeding resumes with entries on “Beginnings and Endings.” If you would like to submit your own post about the early days of breastfeeding, about weaning, or any other beginning or ending, email me your submission by January 22, 2008, for consideration for the carnival on January 29, 2008.
As a reminder, here are the guidelines that will increase the chances a post will be selected for inclusion:
– A well-written, grammatically correct post
– Thoughtful commentary directly on point for the carnival subject

One Nice Christmas Gift

When I asked readers to consider including La Leche League in their holiday giving, I did so as part of the Generous December Group Writing Project hosted by Kate at Babylune. Kate kept her word and gave $60 to the charity of choice of the author of the winning post (posts, actually — she chose two!) Not only is Kate generous and giving, she is also a sneaky little Santa and a good friend, even to her friends in the computer like me. Turns out she made donations in honor of all of the 35 entries in the group writing …read more
