Breastfeeding 1-2-3

Who Is up to the Challenge of NaBloPoMo 2008?

Who Is up to the Challenge of NaBloPoMo 2008?

Time swiftly approaches for this year’s National Blog Posting Month, NaBloPoMo! Bloggers across the blogosphere will sign up to the challenge of posting at least once a day for the entire month of November. Last year I formed a Breastfeeding and Mothering Group, which now consists of 76 members. Are you up to the challenge? (I admit, I am not up to the challenge this year. I find having a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 3-month-old challenging enough at the moment!) You are certainly not limited to posting about breastfeeding — to join our group you simply need to be …read more

NaBloPoMo 2007 Survivor

NaBloPoMo 2007 Survivor

People, I’m not ashamed to say I’m pooped. Thirty posts in thirty days is tough, even when I normally post an average of 24 posts per month. Did any of you other members of the Breastfeeding and Mothering Group make it? Whether or not you did, feel free to post a comment on what you thought about your participation and NaBloPoMo in general. In my opinion it’s a worthwhile experiment, a fun challenge, and a good way to discipline one’s writing habits. I didn’t see a big surge in traffic like I did in 2007 (back when I was in …read more

More Mothering and Breastfeeding Blogs to Enjoy

More Mothering and Breastfeeding Blogs to Enjoy

Seventy-five bloggers have joined the NaBloPoMo Breastfeeding and Mothering group. While it would be nice to find an easy way to create a blogroll of all the participating blogs, I’ve yet to find that. So I’ll reward those who have added their links to this discussion thread by posting a blogroll here. I can’t vouch for the blog content or whether the bloggers have kept up with NaBloPoMo (it ain’t easy!), but I am sure we can all find some interesting reading and new blogs to add to our own blogrolls.

Personal Blog and Journal Writing: A Poll

Personal Blog and Journal Writing: A Poll

I started keeping a journal when I was 10 years old. I kept a handwritten one off and on for the next several years. During college and law school, emails to friends and family became my personal record. Finally, I graduated to keeping a journal on-line. When I started having children, I developed a strong desire to document as much of our lives as possible. I could see how quickly these years are going by, and how quickly I’d forget one stage as we moved on to the next.
With NaBloPoMo coming up in November (and 22 members of the …read more

It is time to start gearing up for National Blog Posting Month: NaBloPoMo! Please join the group if you are a breastfeeding mother and blogger who is up to the challenge of writing a post a day for the month of …read more

Boldly Nursing in Public

Boldly Nursing in Public

Welcome NaBloPoMo readers! I’m starting the month off with the first in my series of stories from breastfeeding mothers. If you’d like to contribute your own story, click here.
When I lived in Boston, I carried my daughter in the sling everywhere I went. Together we rode the subway, went for walks, shopped at the mall and even went out to eat. When my daughter was two months old, we went to Legal Sea Foods for dinner. As I waited for my order to arrive, my daughter decided she was hungry too. We weren’t yet pros at nursing in public, so …read more
