Pediatrician, attachment parenting expert, and breastfeeding advocate Dr. Jim Sears kicks off a new television show “The Doctors” today on CBS (check local listings for time). A spin-off of the “Dr. Phil” show, “The Doctors” features four physicians: a pediatrician, an OB/GYN, a plastic surgeon, and an ER physician. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres gave Christina Aguilera a gentle ribbing about the new mother’s amble bosom. “You look great. One question: Are you nursing?” Aguilera took the teasing well, replying, “I guess it’s a little obvious.” DeGeneres couldn’t help one last joke, “It’s going to be a healthy boy!” You can watch the clip on Ellen’s website.

We do not talk about my pregnancy and the new baby much, given that it will (hopefully!) be another seven months before the baby’s arrival, but my 5-year-old is already seeing the advantages of having a new family member around.
5-year-old: “Mom, the baby can hear your voice.”
Me [impressed]: “Yes!”
5-year-old: “The baby can hear me.”
Me: “Um-hmm.”
5-year-old: “The baby can hear the television.”
Me [wondering where this is going]: “Yes….”
5-year-old [triumphantly]: “The baby wants to watch a kids’ show!”
