That's what I find a little disturbing about it. But that IS balanced out by some positive relationships between the women and between some men and women. And I agree that mother-to-mother support is sorely lacking in our society. It's sort of crazy to think that many women have never even held a newborn until they have their own. And then they're sent home, alone, to care for the wee baby. I think a strong community would really help avoid so many problems that new mothers routinely encounter.
