One more reason a toddler may go on a nursing strike - if you're preggo again and the hormones effect the flavor of the milk. At least that's been my experience twice now. =]

I had a biopsy done on a mole on my right breast when my son was about two years old. He saw the band-aid on my breast and was concerned/leery of the "boob with the boo boo" and would not nurse on that side for a week. He wanted nothing to do with it and thought there was something wrong with the milk (he was very verbal by then and expressed himself quite clearly). It took me a whole week to convince him to try the milk and see that it is still good. Once he confirmed that the milk was still good, he actually showed a preference for that side, asking to start with "the one with the boo boo." It was as if he had developed empathy for it, or something.
