Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Lip Balm

I spotted this Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie lip balm over the weekend and of course I had to pick it up! I’ve bought chocolate lip balm before and haven’t been impressed. Granted, I didn’t have high expectations for this one because it is just lip balm, but I figured if Betty Crocker put their name on it maybe there’d be something special about it. I was wrong.

Immediately upon opening it I realized it had the same fakey chocolate smell that so many chocolate “flavored” things have, and it actually reminded me of the chocolate Skittles. It wasn’t much better on, though I was expecting it to be thicker than it was, which I was glad for. Anyway, I’m not sure what determines the “Fudge Brownie” part of it unless they just put it on the label to get it to sell. There was no visible lip color change, and none showed up when I wiped it with a white tissue either.
Anyway, it’s in a standard lip balm tube and weighs .15 oz. I found it at Limited Too, a girls’ clothing store, which is just as well because I’m handing this off to the kids.

I have something called Ganache for Lips in Chocolate Mousse flavor that I bought at the Scharffen Berger factory.
It’s all natural and all that, but it still has that watery “chocolate simulation” smell of Tootsie Rolls. Certainly not something that rises to the level of ganache.
Sadly it probably cost two or three times as much as the Betty Crocker stuff and is no better.
‘Watery chocolate simulation’ is an excellent description! I don’t imagine there’s much they can do for a product that’s not actually chocolate, but I bet they’d make a mint if anyone ever did!
