Chocolate Chip Waffles

I’ve made chocolate chip waffles and pancakes for my kids so many times I would never have imagined a video online could have helped make it better. But the one below from MonkeySee gives a step by step process for making a sweet breakfast from scratch.

I usually like to add a little bit of brown sugar and a teaspoon or so of vanilla as well. It makes it a little more like a giant cookie, and the sugar helps it brown up a bit more too.

Chocolate Chip Belgian Waffles

2 cups flour
1 cup chocolate chips
2 tsp granulated sugar
1 Tb baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1-2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup melted butter
2 eggs

~ In a large bowl, combine flour, chocolate chips, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.

~ Add milk, melted butter and eggs and mix until moistened. Some lumps may remain.

~ Spread one cup of batter into the waffle baker. Close the top and rotate the baker and cook for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve immediately with syrup, while they are still warm.
