Chocolate Fountains

Why did it take so long for someone to invent these? If you’ve been to a wedding or other large party lately, chances are there’s been a chocolate fountain. Now, I must admit that the first time anyone ever said there was a chocolate fountain at a wedding they went to, I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. I pictured the bride and groom dunking themselves in a huge pool of chocolate, which I thought was a little weird if not too bad of an idea. But once I found out that it was like a fondue, but more of a flowing waterfall of chocolate, I tried desperately to make friends with anyone who might be getting married. Sad, isn’t it?

Chocolate fountains can be bought or rented in all sizes, but how about the 27 foot tall fountain at Jean-Philippe Patisserie at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas! Now that’s a lot of chocolate.
And not just any chocolate will do, apparently. Higher quality chocolate that contains about 34% cocoa butter is optimum. This is called couverture. Just like any other chocolate fondue, you’ll want to be careful about the types of foods you dip in the fountain. Crumbly cakes will lead to a sticky mess, but strawberries and cantaloupe would be my choices.
While you can rent these out for any special occasion, any true chocoholic would love of their own. They range in price and features, but there is one for every budget.
