This sounds absolutely amazing for breakfast and even though it’s chocolate I think it’d be perfect for a special occasion, like a birthday or holiday.
This recipe comes from The Bitten Word, which is my new favorite blog find, and it’s called Granny Ragland’s Chocolate Gravy.
It’s so easy it made me do a little dance!
Chocolate Gravy
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanillaMix dry ingredients well. Slowly add milk until mixture is smooth. Cook very slowly over low heat, stirring frequently. When it gets thick enough, remove from stove. Add vanilla and butter.
Enjoy over biscuits.

Glad you liked this recipe! It’s really special to me. And you’re absolutely right — if you made this for someone’s birthday breakfast, you would absolutely make their day!
Thanks for posting this! A dear friend has talked and talked and talked about the chocolate “gravy” and biscuits he grew up eating in eastern Kentucky. I confess I thought he was pulling my leg — turns out it’s for real and no wierder than croissants with chocolate baked into it. Will make some of this today!
