Dark Chocolate Foot Bath

My first thought when reading this Times of India article was “what a waste of cocoa!” But the further I read, the more it seemed to make sense.

It’s already being proven that cocoa and dark chocolate are good for you – from your heart, to your brain, and it might even help protect against cancer cells. So why wouldn’t it benefit your skin, too? The milk contains lactic acid which helps soften tough feet (remember milk baths?), and the chocolate has antioxidants and magnesium, “to help relax the body and mind.” And the smell of chocolate will definitely help things too, right?
You can do the simple spa treatment yourself at home:
~ Simply warm up a gallon of milk just until it’s at body temperature (you should be able to comfortably dip your elbow in it, as the article says).
~ Blend 1/4 cup of cocoa powder with 1/2 cup of the warmed milk to make a thick liquid. This pre-mixing makes it easier for the cocoa to incorporate into the larger batch and avoids annoying clumps of powder. Pour the warmed cocoa milk into a bowl or container large enough to get both your feet into.
Make sure you lay down a towel under the container first and have another one handy to dry your feet off when you’re done (try explaining chocolate milk foot prints across the living room!). The article suggest putting marbles in the bottom of the foot bath too to give your soles a bit of a massage at the same time.
I think I might have to give this a try once the kids are back in school and while my husband’s at work. I know it’ll get some looks!
