Easter Already?

February 18, 2009 by Heather R.

Easter is still almost two months away (April 12th this year) and while out getting some necessities yesterday at the store I saw that they already have their displays out.

I know this isn’t out of the ordinary anymore, especially given the current economy and retailers wanting to get a jump on as much as they can as soon as they can, but it never fails to throw me for a loop how soon we’re faced with the next holiday season, no matter how far away it may be. The past few holidays have seemed to creep in sooner than usual, with Christmas stuff out in September and Thanksgiving seemingly pushed to the back burner altogether.

However, I will admit that despite grumbling over early holiday creep, I couldn’t resist buying a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs and Cadbury Mini Eggs. I’m only human!

What do you think? Does holiday creep bother you or do you like getting an early start?

It bothers me a great deal! I cannot stand it! I just avoid the seasonal section until the day after the holiday for discount candies haha.

Last year Valentine’s & Easter were rather close together, so it definitely made sense that both product lines were sharing the shelves. This year, well, I think it’s a bit early.

But that didn’t stop me from buying some Hershey’s Eggs over the weekend. (Mostly because they’re in a smaller package and they were on sale. )

Mostly I understand that retailers don’t have much warehouse space and if they have the stuff (it comes in far ahead of time), why not put it out?

I tend to lean that way as well — I figure candy’s candy no matter what the wrapper looks like. Plus, with kids, I like that I can get most of my shopping done early instead of scrambling at the last minute, which has happened more often than I care to admit :D

It really doesn’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t complain one bit if I could buy Peanut Butter Eggs all year round.

Living in hot Florida, I enjoy the “change of seasons” thru candy since we dont have it outdoors! Also keep in mind that from Easter to Halloween there are NO choco-holidays, so thats 6 months of the year with no “attack of the holiday candy diplays”. I love to see the new candy wrapper designs and collect them- yes the choc is the same inside but I enjoy all the different colorful seasonal designs-ck them out for fun on my blog-ttp://chocolatemmtraveler.blogspot.com

The holiday creep does bother me a bit. Especially the Christmas stuff. I mean come on, I haven’t even thought about Christmas in September!! But I will admit as soon as I saw the pic of the mini eggs my mouth watered and I got excited. I can’t control myself over those wonderful little yummies!

Oh my gosh, did you hit a hot button! Working in media, I am always out of sync with the real world. So when the stores start stocking for Christmas in October, that means I need to start writing about it in August!!!

[Can you hear me panting to catch up?]

OMG. I <3 Cadbury Mini Eggs. I’ve already bought and finished a bag, granted not on my own. My friends think it’s hilarious just how much I love them.

I knew your post had something to do with them. I don’t look forward to much in the Spring, but I know Easter means Cadbury Mini Eggs. hehehe

Oh my gosh these Cadbury mini eggs are my downfall…I’m not a huge candy fan but I could eat two whole bags of these eggs if I wanted to, though I would gain 10 pounds. :)
