I picked up a bag of Hershey’s Mint Truffle Kisses at Target the other day while hunting for stocking stuffers to give them a try.

These are supposedly another “limited edition” Kiss but they were available last year too, so maybe they’re just rolling them out as a seasonal treat. My 17.8 oz bag cost me $4.29.

The standard-sized Kisses are wrapped in silver or green foil with little flags that say “MINT TRUFFLE.”

The wrappers, of course, are what caught my eye because I was on the lookout for Christmas goodies, and I think they’d look pretty in a candy dish or jar.

The Kisses that I find at stores in my area always seem to look a little beat up when they’re unwrapped. I’m not sure why that is but of course it doesn’t affect the flavor, it’s just one of those things!

The creamy mint green “truffle” center is covered in dark chocolate which is always a tasty combination. These have a very subtle mint flavor at first and I can’t help but compare them to Andes mints (which isn’t a bad thing!). The aftertaste does linger for a while though and actually gets a touch mouthwash-y after about five minutes. Weird, but there you go.

funny that you wrote about these. I just saw them for first time in store today. The packaging grabbed my attention ( they actually have another one that got my attention… hot cocoa)
I was nervous to buy a whole bag when i hadn’t had chance to try them yet.. have done that one too many times….

Great photos. They sound good except for the mouthwashy thing!

Have you noticed that the Hershey’s bars are in nostalgic wrappings now?

These look good, I’ll have to compare them to my latest addiction: Fannie May’s mint meltaways.

I was brought up in a union home, and with non union workers in retail, food, factories, and auto service area in school and adult life. I remember the 70’s, 80’s when jobs were scarce and or none at all, unemployement had run out, and people were with out money and scared as to how to keep the roof over their families heads. What I don’t understand is why these CEO’s, CFO’s, Presidents, Vice Presidents who earn the multi-million dollar salaries, plus perks which is over 500% of what the people that work for them on the floor make, how can they continue to think we the American people/public can afford to buy their products if we do not have jobs or if we are making the the same .25 cents an hour that they are paying the Mexicans in Mexico, or Chinese in China, or other low paying countries? Also, the products made are of lower quality, or substandard to most American made products. Please remember that Most of these workers can not afford the products they make. You can not drink the water in these countries, due to unsanitary water condictions and lack of water systems to do so, and these countries do not have pollution regulations or standards in place such as Mexico or Asia, or China, as we had seen during the Olympics. And neither is the work ethic or standards the same as ours. We are going back in time, back to the start of the industerial revolution of sweat shops, child labor, many, many hours of work without rest breaks, or food or water during this time. If they are injured or killed due to no safety setups on presses or hazmat problems, so be it, there is another one to take their place. No worries, No big deal if they lose their hand in a press, or their life. No fines, or follow up on the companies to improve the standards of manufacturing and sancity of life. N.A.F.T.A. is not being enforced as written to be according to our OSHA, workmans comp., unemployment, and taxes set in place in this country which is mandated by Federal and each states laws.
Also, N.A.F.T.A. is against Our own 1890 U.S. Federal Anti Trust Laws as well. This bill was drafted for big Corporations and they have forgotten who really pays their salaries, we the people of the United States of America. My husband said “soon we all will be out on the streets eating out of rice bowls if we can afford them. This will mean the big corporate wheeler and dealers too, if they forget who the real customer is, who is paying them.” It is not trickle down economics that makes their salaries, it is where and who makes the products. Japanese do not buy American made autos, they are shunned/looked down upon if they do because it is not supporting their country or countrymen jobs. Also, because of the fast job losses in USA there is a severe tax base loss. This means loss of jobs = No money for road repairs, infrastructure of state, federal, updated electrical grids (Brownouts, and or electricracial
shot or shock = No Power to run anything because there is not a backup system and Everything will not be able to run). If we all take the time to see where the products we buy are made, even if it is a dollar more because it was was USA made, it means the job you save will be your own or your neighbors/countrymen.
So, Hershey Chocolate Corp. You are biting the hands that feed you. Our families will no longer buy any of your products, we will be buying from Russell Stover, and our own towns chocolate makers such as Sweetlands here in Grand Rapids, MI. If enough of our multi-million in population of Americans do this what a change would be made. Think about this long and hard. It is what made us America, with a can do attitude to be the best and proud enough to put our name on what we do or make at home or in the work place. this made us the “Awakened Giant” in WWII, gave women/minorities rights, and made us the envy of the world. Stop, Look and Think before you buy every time.

I LOVE these mint truffle kisses. I had them for the first time in March 2009 when I was in Hershey and stopped in at Chocolate World. I had never seen them before at that point,so I too only bought 1 bag to ‘try’ them. Knowing the way my family & myself love mint, I should have gotten a few more bags.. the one bag was gone in no time.. we absoloutley loved them. Although, no one in my family tasted that mouth wash effect…. we just really enjoyed them and we too compared them to Andes mints (which we also love). I can’t wait to get more, I have been searching for them since March and to no avail.

I can’t find the ingredients for these little guys anywhere. Do you know if there’s gelatin in them?
