Hot Fudge Sundae Day

It’s National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, which strikes me as only a little weird just because the middle of July is not the ideal time of year I think of when it comes to hot fudge! But I’m not complaining!

The making of the actual sundae is pretty fool proof: vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, cherries, chopped nuts, and hot fudge. And while it’s easy to grab a jar of fudge sauce from the store and warm it up in the microwave, why not make it yourself?
Hot Fudge Sauce
from cooks.com
2 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. cocoa
4 tbsp. flour
1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla (added later)
In a saucepan – mix dry ingredients. Add butter and water. Bring to a boil, and continue boiling for 10 minutes, or slightly longer. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Serve over ice cream.
