Lindt Raspberry Bar

lindt raspberry

I found this bar of Lindt Raspberry at the Cost Plus World Market last week. It’s 3.5 ounces and feels like a pretty sturdy bar until you open it and realize there’s a thin strip of cardboard just under the front of the wrapper. Why? I imagine to protect the cute bubbles of raspberry and chocolate inside!

I’d say the cardboard did a good job. The chocolate was pretty much unmarred, unbashed and unchipped, and for such a strange presentation (I don’t think I’ve ever had anything that looked like this before), I’m impressed.

Each little rectangle broke off easily enough. The milk chocolate is smooth with a snappy bite, but the raspberry syrup inside is pretty overpowering. Even though it’s raspberry my immediate reaction was that of having a mouthful of cough syrup. The second square is better and while the syrup taste is strong I realized it’s not heavy – it’s very sweet but thin, so really it goes down fast and you can enjoy what’s left of the chocolate.

So, I’m not a huge fan but I certainly wouldn’t turn down a bite or two!

Oh, I LOVE these, but I love them even more when they are filled with liquior like they sell them in Germany.
