Muddy Buddies

I haven’t made these in a while but got a sudden craving for them this morning. I may have to stop by the store for the cereal while I’m out running errands today!
This is also called puppy chow (though I can’t bring myself to call it that) and for some reason, “trash.”
Muddy Buddies
9 c. Chex or Crispix cereal
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. powdered sugarPour cereal into large bowl; set aside. Combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1 1/2 minutes. Stir in vanilla.
Pour chocolate mixture over cereal, mixing well. Put powdered sugar in large paper grocery sack and add chocolate coated mix; shake until coated with powdered sugar. Spread covered cereal out on wax paper and allow to cool.
Heh. I always knew it as puppy chow.

“Puppy chow” does seem to make it sound cuter (and the kids liked that better than “muddy buddies”)… and it’s infinitely better than calling it trash!
We called this “gravel”.
at school bakerys we had puppy chow but 4th grade was the last to eat lunch which means it was sold out! the 6th graders (they ate first) were like aww well thats to bad and when they walked away they laughed now i can make it whenever i want to LOOK WHOS LAUGHING NOW!!!
