Chocolate Golf Cake for Dad

This is the cutest cake I’ve seen in a long time! Made with actually one cake tier and lot of cupcakes, this cute creation was originally intended for a second birthday, but I think it’d be perfect for a Father’s Day treat as well.

Using three dozen cupcakes and one 6″ cake, flickr user clevercupcakes created this for a birthday party. She used homemade fondant for the smooth look on the cake and adorable argyle on the cupcakes, which you can see better here.

Father’s Day Chocolate Chip Cookies

My husband loves these cookies - I think it might be the combination of sour cream and the fact that they don’t require a lot of preparation beforehand!

As well as adding chopped nuts, using a pudding mix with toffee or caramel bits, or even a vanilla pudding make a great surprise treat too!

Father’s Day Chocolate Chip Cookies
adapted from loveyoufather

1 box chocolate cake mix (18 oz)
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix (4 serving size)
1 cup sour cream
2 large eggs
1 cup chocolate chips
Chopped walnuts (optional)

Turn the oven on to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet or cover with parchment paper. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until just moistened and no big lumps remain. Drop by rounded spoonfuls about two inches apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for 16-18 minutes.

Personalized Chocolate Card for Dad

I’ve always liked the idea of companies personalizing gifts — what would be better than a big block of chocolate, other than a big block of chocolate with your name on it?

hersheycard

Hershey’s has a giant 1-pound chocolate “card” available for Father’s Day. It can be decorated with a personal message beneath the molded “World’s Greatest Dad” inscription, and you can choose from three colors for the frosting - white, blue or orange.

It’s $19.95 with free personalization, and I would imagine you’d want to order it soon to make sure it shows up before Sunday!

(I also got totally distracted by the tin of dark chocolate-covered pretzels linked to on the same page.)

Chocolate Ties for Dad

Father’s Day is just a week away, and though a traditional gift for dad may be a tie, that doesn’t mean you have to give a traditional tie!

Many places online now sell novelty chocolate ties, including the personalized one above from Hershey’s.

Amazon has a pretty basic tie, but you could also buy your own mold and even your own gold presentation box for a bit cheaper!

If real chocolate isn’t up dad’s alley, check out these fun chocolate-print ties instead.

Chocolate Just For Dad

Father’s Day always seems to sneak up on me. Between school getting out, birthdays, and summer planning, and the fact that it doesn’t have a specific set date (it’s celebrated the third Sunday in June), it tends to sneak up on me!

Though my husband doesn’t much care for receiving gifts, I still try to get my kids to surprise him with something thoughtful. The above chocolate DAD comes from Anthony-Thomas.com for $8.95.

If you’re into homemade gift-giving, you could easily buy letter molds for chocolate and candy and create your own Father’s Day sentiment for dad. Sugarcraft.com has a huge selection of letters and numbers in a variety of styles, and you could even use the lollipop molds and make a cute “lollipop” bouquet using chocolate.
