Lindt’s “A Touch of Sea Salt” Chocolate Bar

Lindt’s “A Touch of Sea Salt” Chocolate Bar

I always love getting a package from Lindt, whose chocolates are always a great treat!

This past week I was sent a bar of Lindt Excellence A Touch of Sea Salt. Though it’s not new, I haven’t seen this on shelves yet and I was instantly intrigued. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of chocolate and salt together, and it had never occurred to me that a chocolatier might actually combine just the two (without, say, peanut butter or something else with it).

The label says A Touch of Sea Salt is made dark chocolate, though at 47% it’s not …read more

Lindt’s 90% Cocoa Bar. Yes, 90%.

Lindt’s 90% Cocoa Bar. Yes, 90%.

The other day I got a delivery. It wasn’t one that I was expecting, and when I saw that it was addressed to me with “Chocolate Bytes” under my name I got a little excited — I knew there was going to be a delicious chocolaty treat inside!

This is what I pulled out. Kept cool by an ice pack and Styrofoam insulation, I had a pretty organza bag with four bars of various Lindt chocolate. But it was the one top that made my jaw literally drop.

Do you see that? 90% Cocoa. 90%! Are these people mad?, I thought. …read more

Lindt’s Classic Recipe Raisin & Nuts Bar

Lindt’s Classic Recipe Raisin & Nuts Bar

Lindt Chocolates recently sent me their newest bar, the Classic Recipe Raisin & Nut Bar, to try out.

First off, the bar is delicious! I’ve been a fan of Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut Bar (which I couldn’t help but compare it to!) for years, so this was right up my alley. The Lindt bar contains Swiss milk chocolate, raisins, and roasted hazelnuts and almonds. The additions are distributed generously throughout the bar, making for a very satisfying treat!
And I know I’m an oddball for not being crazy about hazelnuts, but the amount in the bar is perfect and compliments the …read more

Lindt Assures Us Their Chocolate is Melamine-Free

With the current news of some chocolate around the world testing positive for melamine, reader Renee emailed me a response sent to her by Lindt after she inquired about the dairy used in their chocolate.
They assured her that the dairy used in their U.S. production comes from the U.S., not China, and is free of melamine:
“All milk ingredients used in the production of our products conform to applicable laws within Europe and the United States.
“Milk ingredients used in Lindt’s chocolate production are free of Melamine and do not originate from China . Lindt USA procures its milk products …read more

Chocolate Comfort

I’m having one of those days. Do you know what I mean? There’s so much to do and I just don’t have the energy or enough hours in the day to do it all.
I just want to sit here on the couch and surf mindlessly with Food Network on the TV and some yummy chocolate next to me. Alas.
What’s your favorite comfort chocolate/treat?

Lindt Lindor 60% Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles

Lindt Lindor 60% Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles

Lindt considers their 60% truffles “extra” dark and ok, more power to them! (They’re definitely dark but not necessarily extra!) The Extra Dark truffles are a limited edition addition to their truffle line, which already includes milk, dark, peanut butter and a few seasonal versions.

I’ve had the milk and dark Lindor Truffles before and enjoyed them, so I’m thinking I must have picked up a package of Extra Dark that was near the end of its shelf life or sat in the delivery truck too long. Each truffle had already bloomed, and most were just flat-out deformed …read more

Lindt Launches Excellence Chili Bar

Lindt Launches Excellence Chili Bar

I was contacted last week about trying out a new bar from Lindt, the Lindt Excellence Chili Bar. I excitedly responded that I’d love to, and then sat back and thought about it. I realized I had never tried a chili-infused chocolate of any kind – solid or liquid – even though it’s said to be one of the oldest ways of consuming chocolate. I anxiously awaited my sample, which showed up quickly.
The packaging of the bar is a lightweight cardboard that folds over in the back like an envelope so you can easily store any chocolate left over (does …read more

Lindt Raspberry Bar

Lindt Raspberry Bar

I found this bar of Lindt Raspberry at the Cost Plus World Market last week. It’s 3.5 ounces and feels like a pretty sturdy bar until you open it and realize there’s a thin strip of cardboard just under the front of the wrapper. Why? I imagine to protect the cute bubbles of raspberry and chocolate inside!

I’d say the cardboard did a good job. The chocolate was pretty much unmarred, unbashed and unchipped, and for such a strange presentation (I don’t think I’ve ever had anything that looked like this before), I’m impressed.

Each little rectangle broke off easily enough. The …read more

Lindt Customers’ Bitter Disappointment

Lindt Customers’ Bitter Disappointment

Remember the email coupon from Starbucks last year good for free coffee? A similar incident occurred at Lindt headquarters in Australia last week.
The misunderstanding was caused by an internal email concerning a sale on chocolate:
Lindt’s general manager Steve Lyon said the “sale” was caused by an internal email gone awry.
He said Lindt had offered a small amount of leftover stock – perhaps 20 crates – for sale to its Elizabeth Street staff at a reduced price, but this year somebody had “mischievously” forwarded the email on to someone outside the company.
From there the email took on a life of …read more

Find The Bunny

Find The Bunny

I’m sure you all love these posts telling you about more ways you can waste time online…
Lindt, the Swiss chocolatier, has come up with the Gold Bunny Hunt Game. You can search through photos from four major US cities to find the bunny, then answer trivia questions about chocolate and about the cities themselves. Highest scores win prizes of chocolate, of course. Unfortunately, only US players are eligible for the prizes, but the game can be played by all. Be sure to register first so your score can be counted.
Like the chocolate, this is strangely addictive, and not to be …read more
