Chocolate Marshmallow Pilgrim Hats

Chocolate Marshmallow Pilgrim Hats

This is a fun little afternoon project that I remember doing as a kid but totally forgot about until I came across it again recently in a back issue of Family Fun magazine.

These would be a great project to do a day or so before Thanksgiving and then use them to prop up some cute, handmade place cards for your guests. See the final product here.

Chocolate Cherry Pie

For this week’s dessert night I made a chocolate cherry pie. I’ve been craving cherries lately and when I found this recipe that included chocolate and whipped cream I had to give it a try!
Needless to say it was a hit and aside from the cooling down periods it was fast and easy to make.
Cherry Chocolate Pie
11 large marshmallows
1/3 cup milk
3 oz milk chocolate (the only milk chocolate I had on hand was some Dove, which worked well)
1 8 oz container Cool Whip, divided
1 graham cracker crust
1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
In a saucepan, combine marshmallows, chocolate and milk …read more

What Can You Do With S’mores?

Everyone know how to make s’mores – roast a marshmallow, slap it on a graham cracker with a bit of chocolate and smoosh another graham cracker on top.
However, the variations are really pretty endless and can be tailored to fit anyone’s tastes. You can try:

S’mores bars
Ditch the graham crackers altogether
Turn it into a cake
Add bananas, raspberries, or even cherries
S’mores cheesecake!
Minty s’mores
Use Peeps!
Make the whole thing from scratch

And check this out – Mexican s’mores!

The Ultimate Winter Drink

We’ve been blessed (?) with an overabundance of snow this winter, so the outdoor winter activities are in full swing. From toboganning to skiing to skating on outdoor rinks, there is never a shortage of things to do. Even shovelling the driveway can be turned into a competition given enough imagination. Heck, you’ve got to do something to keep that from becoming old after the first hour or two.
The downside of winter activities, is that you can come back inside wet, soggy, cold, and in need of a little pick-me-up. Here’s where the ultimate winter drink comes in. Of course …read more
