Via Taxgirl.com: in Iowa, a Milky Way Dark candy bar is taxable, but a classic milk chocolate Milky Way is not.

What? Yeah, I know.

The confusion apparently stems from Iowa’s definition of candy, sales tax laws, and the inclusion (or exclusion) of flour. You can read the whole thing at Roth & Co. (And while you’re there you can read about Iowa getting themselves in a bunch over taxing pumpkins: for carving or for food.)

Each day, b5 will have an auction in our booth (booth #309, at 2:30 Thursday and Friday) and attendees can use their chips to bid on the prizes. As noted, we will be doing a secret password. You can find these passwords in various b5media blogs (including this one!). Participants only need to approach someone in the b5media booth with the password and they will get a token.

So, if you’re going to the Expo – and you’d like to get a $500 chip to start with (so you can bid on the fabulous prizes) – the first secret password is: “b5alicious”.

Watch for more secret passwords scattered about b5media. And let me know if you win any of the b5 prizes, I won’t be able to attend this year! (Sad, I know, but the cost was prohibitive and the husband’s out of state for work during the whole thing so there’s no one to watch the kids in the evening. I’ll live!)

2. Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

3. The problem: How to get two pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the parking lot.

4. Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It’ll take the edge off your appetite and you’ll eat less.

5. If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don’t they actually counteract each other?

6. Money talks. Chocolate sings.

7. Put “eat chocolate” at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.

8. A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn’t that handy?

9. If you can’t eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can’t eat all your chocolate, what’s wrong with you?
