Another trip to Sam’s, another box of candy bars! This time I found the Nestle Crunch Crisp, and much like the Snickers Charged I liked it well enough.
I’m not a fan of Nestle chocolate much anymore. Like Hershey I think the quality has gone downhill over the years though there are still the occasional treats from both that I’ll pick up when I get a craving. A Nestle Crunch is one of those, though I prefer the mini bars because a regular sized with the sub-standard “chocolate” is too much.

Anyway, the packaging for this one features an ad for American Idol, and considering the time frame I picked these up American Idol was still in its recent run, so at least they’re not expired! The bars are 1.74 oz and the wrapper has the familiar blue of a regular Crunch bar with a URL to forthekidinyou.com.

The bar is two crispy vanilla wafers with chocolate creme sandwiched between them. The outer covering of chocolate also contains the crisped rice bits of a regular bar.

The chocolate creme actually made the bar for me, though, I think. It had a strong chocolate-like flavor (and I say flavor because chocolate isn’t listed on the ingredients list, if you can believe it), that balanced out the bland chocolate of the outer coating (which ended up all over my fingers even at a room temp of 70 degrees).

Overall, I liked it and the kids liked it. I still can’t finish a full bar because of the over-punch of sweetness, but there’s no fear of it going to waste around here!

I attempted a Tim Tam Slam this morning and I’ll say again, it’s a good thing these aren’t sold anywhere near me!

Now for some sweet links!

<img src='http://www.blisstree.com/chocolatebytes/files/2007/08/razzberry.jpg' alt='razzberry M&M's' />

- I have got to get my hands on some of these Razzberry M&M’s that Candy Addict wrote about this morning. When did the people at M&M’s decide to just go nuts and try everything under the sun? I’m not complaining by any means – it’s just as fun for us too! More info can be found at the M&M’s site.

- Marye at Baking Delights has recipes for a chocolate sheet cake and Aisa posted chocolate cupcakes. Who doesn’t love a simple chocolate cake? Cooking Gadgets‘ Recipe Divider could come in handy for this. Along that line, check out Foodie Obsessed’s back to school brownie cake.

- Candy.org has reviewed Hershey S’mores. They’ve apparently been around since 2003 but I’ve never even heard of them – anyone else?

- Cybele over at the Candy Blog has been busy as usual. She’s reviewed some very nice looking chocolate sticks (I need some tips on getting people to send me stuff!), Amano Single Origin Bars, and a Milka bar that I did actually see at the store last week but will now have to go back and pick up later. YUM. After I visit Candy Blog I always feel guilty that my lightbox has been sitting half finished in the garage for months.

- Candyblog.org did a review on the simple but still relevant Tootsie Rolls and included a little history with it (though I think the “1986″ is a typo – Wikipedia has it starting at 1896.)

– More chocolate slabs over at Chocablog. Check out the Guinness Luxury Chocolate Truffles too.

- Chef Jules at Gourmet A Go-Go has the most amazing looking Chocolate Berry Tart recipe. Make sure you take a look around at all his other fantastic recipes and pictures.

- Mar’s Bars has reported that the chocolate has been taken out of the Smarties! Have any of my Canadian friends tried these?

- Simply Thrifty has an amazing list of 100 things you can make yourself, including chocolate kisses!

- Sugar Hog has reviewed something that I have actually tried, the Nestle Crunch Crisp.

- Sugar Savvy has a recipe for an extremely easy batch of s’mores fudge.

- And the most interesting for last: The Chocolate Review has tried Peach Kit Kat. Yes, peach. I need to figure out how to try one of these!
