Paula Deen’s Chocolate Pecan Pie

It’s not a secret that I’m a sucker for any kind of dessert with a non-traditional chocolate pairing. Paula Deen’s Chocolate Pecan Pie does just that with the classic southern dessert and decadent chocolate.
Chocolatier Max Brenner joined Paula for the episode of Paula’s Best Dishes, and though pecan pie is usually too rich for me this is one I might have a hard time pushing away from! Paula adds about four ounces of chopped chocolate and a couple tablespoons of bourbon as well.

Paula Deen’s Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies

Paula Deen is one of the few cooks/chefs on the Food Network that I bother to watch anymore. I don’t make a lot of her recipes (I like my arteries) but the ones I have made have always turned out well.
This one is her Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies which is a take-off from her Gooey Butter Cake. I like it with a Devil’s Food cake mix, it gives the cookies and extra rich chocolate flavor. They’re a lot like Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, but a little bit chewier.

Chocolate Dipped Doughnuts

Chocolate Dipped Doughnuts

It’s National Donut Day! As Sandy points out, National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to help raise funds during the Depression and to honor the Salvation Army workers who prepared doughnuts for thousands of soldiers during World War I. It’s always the first Friday of June each year.

Did you know that? I didn’t!
Following is a recipe that I’ve used several times. Keep in mind, this is in no way any kind of gourmet doughnut. Don’t look at the can of biscuits and go “pshaw!” because …read more

Chocolate Bundles with Chocolate Sauce

How can you not love something with that name? I made these a while ago but didn’t take a picture. I don’t normally shoot everything I make but sometimes there’s a rush of “it turned out!” and I feel the need to record it for posterity. This was actually one of those times but I didn’t feel like waiting for the camera battery to charge and the family was already set to dig in, so I had to let it go (the picture below is not mine). Anyway, this comes from one of my favorite Food TV cooks, Paula Deen:
