Chocolate & Snack Companies Recall Peanut Butter Treats

Snack giants Keebler, Little Debbie, General Mills and Austin are recalling peanut butter treats in the wake of the salmonella-tainted peanut butter scare from last week.
Though there have been no complaints about illnesses from the Little Debbie snacks specifically, the company is still recalling peanut butter toasty sandwich crackers and peanut butter cheese sandwich crackers made since July 1.
General Mills is recalling their popular LARABAR Peanut Butter Cookie and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp snack bars.
The Hy-Vee supermarket chain is recalling bakery products that contain peanut butter, and Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products, which sells through Wal-Mart has recalled several brands …read more
Spinach, Tomatoes, and now Chocolate!

Who would have thought salmonella would turn up in these foods? Up until a few short months ago, I thought salmonella was primarily a problem in undercooked meat. Then we had salmonella scares with fresh spinach, followed by tomatoes, and now some Hershey’s chocolate bars. Well, apparently there are about 2500 different types of salmonella so I guess almost anything is fair game.
Here’s what happened last week. The Hershey’s chocolate factory in Smith’s Falls, Ontario issued a recall of certain products because they felt there was salmonella contamination at the plant. There are saying that none of the products involved …read more
